This is a good idea. I'd pick up one of the orginal Blues jerseys.

Otherwise known as 'back when we was winning' jerseys

They weren't always winning. I bought tickets in advance for the Qld game and was super excited about Lomu and co coming to town. It was a farking bloodbath. Obviously I'm a Canes fan, but it's no fun seeing a side stacked with ABs get done like that. Think ACT reamed them as well that year.

No. But they won the first two titles didn't they? So a legacy jersey should go back to the start

    First three titles?

Oops. Yes 3. I think I even went to a final at EP, against the Shawks. Or was it a SF? Easy to get a ticket on the terraces in those days, sun in the eyes due to the afternoon kickoff

No, you were correct, first two only and then the Crusaders won in 1998 on the back of some dubious reffing. πŸ˜‰

Like the Chiefs one it would have the current sponsor on it. That green panel ruins any blue jersey

I remember making a blue mouthguard for James Kerr back in the day when he was playing for the Blues (I don't know why he didn't get a complimentary one from the blues). A year later I saw it as he smiled after scoring in the final for the Saders vs the Blues

I don't care about the jersey, I want my money back for the Blues sucking so much in that game. It was gruesome.

As a canes supporter you should have been used to that. We had Jonah Cully and Tana all at once. Problem is we had almost no one else

As a Canes supporter you should know that wasnt to occur until a few years later. This was 1996.

I was talking in general terms. Did not assume were talking about that time. Let's face it we were pretty shit in early S12

I specifically mentioned that game. The whole point is that I went to see my heroes (even if they were wearing Blues jersies) in the flesh and they played like utter shit and were mercilessly raped by the Reds. Which goes back to my original point that the Blues didn't always win, in fact they suffered an appalling loss that season.

The Canes came the next year, were 0-19 down and then proceeded to annihilate the Reds. Was glorious. Cullen was well contained, but Tana cut loose.

It's always the coach before the coach who gets the credit (ref: @Chris-B), so Hammettuer for the Canes, Blackadder for the Crusaders, Fozzie for the Chiefs, Glen Moore for the Highlanders, and no doubt in the next year or so Tana for the Blues.

I seem to recall there was a jersey before this iconic one but I can't find a picture of it

This was a nice jersey and provided the inspiration for our best ever one imho which was the year we lost the final. I bought the black change strip

Is this the original? Basically a shout out to Wellington & Taranaki, while the rest of the provinces can get farrrrked.
