Bloody hell, MMac at 10! 😨
I expected Debreczeni but he's in the injury ward again.

DMac and ALB must look around their backline teammates and think WTF kind of NPC squad is this.

Was Sullivan not contracted to Chiefs full squad? Unsure how he dropped so far after his debut match.

god, that is just so, mediocre.

How is Weber still getting picked?
MMac? That's how low we have sunk.
I know he's a first year player, but surely Nanai-Seturo is one of our few success stories so far?

Will Retallick look like he gives a shit this week? I wonder what deal he's signed overseas?

Damn, I was hoping they'd wait another week before making the change

A better mix in the playmaker roles, but still a couple of curious choices on form. 0 - 5 looms.

@canefan Yeah will add to the attack with D Mac at FB it may break down around M McKenzie and Weber. to offset that positional change.

The Chiefs are going to get an absolute hiding from the Bulls next week.

Retallick is probably due for a shoulder injury too.

@Nepia Either way, I really can't see them winning a game this season, outside of their home fixture against the Reds in May.

Blues fans dining out. Being irrelevant for 15 years has them salivating at the thought of a worse NZ team than the Blues.

ALB's likely to have exercised his out-clause before May 24 (Reds).

In-form midfielder Ngani Laumape will start his 50th match for the Hurricanes on Friday night in the round five Investec Super Rugby encounter against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

The back-to-back Hurricanes player of the year, who has played in 48 Super Rugby games as well as facing the British and Irish Lions, has been in fantastic early season form to lead the competition's try scorers with five.

He will again partner with Matt Proctor in the midfield in a backline that features just one change to that which faced the Highlanders last round.

Wes Goosen comes in on the left wing in place of Ben Lam who has been rested following a heavy early season work load.

Up front there are three changes in the pack with experienced props Toby Smith and Ben May named to start, the former making his first appearance in 2019.

The other change comes on the side of the scrum where Reed Prinsep is recalled with Vaea Fifita moving into lock.

The bench features two potential Hurricanes debutants with wing Salesi Rayasi and loose forward Hedien Bedwell-Curtis.

Hurricanes head coach John Plumtree was delighted about the prospect of two more players getting an opportunity.

Yep, IPL, then Cricket World Cup, then NPC, then All Blacks, then cricket.

Some NRL and V8 Supercars in the mix too, but I don't think I've forgotten much else...

Be interesting to see how many 2nd half tries he scores. Canes will probably have gone off the boil after racking up a huge lead.

Regardless of the Chiefs winning a game or not it's bollocks to imply Retallick isn't interested, he's actually been playing ok despite how shit the team is.

But I agree with TR, lets fake injury him midway through the competition and he can have some games for the Magpies to get up to match fitness. Perfect.

@Tim reckon some of the top guys will only really start showing consistent form in a couple of months as they start thier climb to peak performance, whereas a guy like SB is in theory, trying to oust BBBR or SW for a start come RWC...just chuck him at 6 FFS.

@Tim said in Chiefs v Hurricanes:

@Nepia He really doesn't look like he's straining himself. Four rounds in and it's been all decidedly sub-par performances. I'd say his mind is on the World Cup and the series of injuries he picked up last year.

He's a much better player than Scott Barrett, but that guy is putting in 10 times the effort.

One guy is playing in the top performing team in the competition and the other is playing in the worst - Retallick is putting in the effort but it's basically pushing shit up hill. (I hope Barrett's effort isn't 10 times better than BBBR, he's only made 1 extra tackle and less tackle busts 😉 ).

mariner4life 1 Reply Last reply Reply Quote 0
