Just realised, Aus v NZ is at Lords on Saturday just as the heatwave rears its head in London - 33 degrees is predicted! Big change from earlier this month.

DW reporting temps of 38C in Germany, which is apparently a record.

Are they playing some of the games in Germany ?

@Paekakboyz I looked earlier this morning to see Munro's numbers because I'm coming to the conclusion that someone is insane in the Black caps (that being doing exactly the same thing over and over and expecting a different result). I'm not advocating a revolving door selection policy as in the past but we have a player averaging 35 who isn't playing and one who averages 24 who is. I think that Colin had 4 50's in his last 28 innings. He was dropped in favour of Nicholls for a reason.

Colin's SR of 104 (from memory) isn't that superior that he has to be in the team either.

Munro looks good against modest opposition but Latham's current form is worse than Munro's.

Munro is averaging 25 while Latham has only scored 27 runs in total (av = 6.75).

Should have given both Nicholls and Blundell a chance vs WI or Pakistan.

SA beating SL tomorrow would be doing us a huge favour.

Had a beer and discussion with a mate last night.

So if we lose both games, and England and/or Pakistan win both we're gone is that right ?

Will a win against Oz or England ( two games I'm very worried about ) GUARANTEE us a semi ?

Teams playing for nothing but pride are WI, Afghanistan and SA right ?

If we lose both games and Pakistan and England win both games we can still sneak in on run rate. If Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka win all and we lose all, then we definitely are out. Unlikely though as it requires both SL and England to beat India.

Sri Lankan top order doing very a poor job of picking up the length and bounce, in-between some nice drives at Durham.

Possibly. Two of the dismissals seemed to be from thinking the delivery was shorter than it actually was (more just back of a length deliveries), the other trying to drive one that wasn’t full enough, and basically blasting it high in the air to mid off.

Looking well like SL out of the running after today (unless the slinga wipes out SA)

I can see us sweating on RR to be honest. We are vulnerable to a team that goes 'all out'and England will be doing just that.
I'm kind of hoping we lose v Australia as we won't beat them twice.

    @Crucial
I'll be very surprised if England beats India on Sunday. India are in fine form and the pressure is really getting to England.

I also disagree with your point on Australia. A win is a guaranteed semi, missing out on RR after 3 consecutive loses would be a terrible end to this tournament for us. Much worse than losing to Australia in a semi in my opinion.

If we lose both games we will possibly be in danger from Pakistan and England. Three teams could be fighting out two spots. Pakistan are likely to increase their RR, England may stay the same and we may decrease.

I always want to beat Oz but if we only did so once I'd prefer it was in the final.

It would be a terrible end but then the draw was always going to have us coming to the crunch in the latter stages. We don't get to have momentum games at the end like Pakistan

I half hope we chuck a France in 2011. Get smashed in the pool game and in the dressing sheds after the game tell the Aussies "see you in the final" and just have them standing there thinking "we still have to make it and you blokes already think you are in it".

So Sri Lanka losing this means we can only miss out now on NRR? We'd have to get pounded by both Eng and Aus to miss out now, surely. Good result for us I reckon

@nzzp I think so. A washout in either game would also see us through (regardless of other results)?

From what I’ve worked out there’s little chance of us missing out (famous last words!)
Seems more about who’s taking the 4th spot , the poms or pakis
