@donsteppa Can't upvote something like that. Great about the vaccine, but shit about the rest.
Sorry mate.Feel shit about the upvote but it was warranted.
At least she avoids a particularly shitty way of shuffling from this mortal coil.
"Thoughts and prayers" Don, if it helps.

Sorry mate.It was a very surreal conversation (I’m sure they said it was going to be today…).
Overall a relief though as, while I’ll still Covid scan religiously etc, I’m now relatively less worried about accidentally infecting a whole rest home when I get back from occasional work trips to the Auckland airport precinct.
Rest homes are a real mixed bag. There’s ones who are physically fine but mentally gone, but vice versa too. The ones of sharp mind but failing body must get used to some very strange conversations at meal times.
That was Mum. Though thankfully/unfortunately I was on the left side of the Tassie and my bro had to deal with that.
But enough of my 3 year old issues.
I'm sure the rest of our TSF family are feeling for you, and would help anyway we can.

Yep, at least Covid is off the list! I don't think there are many good ways to go, but illnesses (or accidents) causing a lack of oxygen must be among the least pleasant...

Cheers. Inaccurately berating the ref/selectors/umpire/coaches/teams among good company on TSF is always great therapy

Someone feeling a bit stupid for being stupid.
Get her a t-shirt that reads 'Facebook cost me my job'
Feel a little sorry that they used a photo of someone associated with the fool above the headline though.
I know of a certain number of health professionals are about to be in the same boat, which is deeply disappointing.
A comment was made that how good could they be at their jobs if they didn't understand the need for vaccinated staff when dealing with patients that are high risk of dying if they were exposed to Covid.
If you deal with the public, no jab no job IMO.
The best vaccine roll-out has been to the military front liners. Do as you are told and queue up over there.
Funny how none of them have had an issue.
Unfortunately giving people choice also gives them the ability to make stupid decisions. The woman referred to in the article sounds like she wanted to be pig-headed then received some bad advice from this 'employment law advocate' and is now paying the price.
I'm all for people having a choice, but that doesn't trump people right not to be exposed to disease. Particularly a disease that has been shutting down the economy.
So these people can refuse a jab, but they better have alternative skills that allow redeployment otherwise, sucks to be you.
Agree, and public servants who get sacked probably turned down redeployment (my sources tell me that was the case here).

Zero sympathy from me. This is covid19, not tiddlywinks

Would have to refuse the vaccination and then refuse redeployment or reassignment to other work across the public service, so not just the original department. Maybe not hard, but would very much be the architect of one's own demise.

I went to donate blood today, which is at the same site as Covid Vaccines (different rooms) and the Vaccine door had a sign saying no walk ins, fully booked.
In less ideal news

I can fucking blame you then! I am in Coogee, taking a couple of days off the motorbike to dry out from the constant rain since I left home on Saturday. Now the eastern suburbs has a least one community case. All I need is for Qld to panic again.

What's the chat in NZ fellas? Any announcements to make an announcement planned for today? What's the talk back radio folk saying?
I assume we will get an update around 11am here from Gladys. Maybe Cindy will wait for that before reacting, though assume she's getting a constant feed from here.
