Lockdown/Covid Check In

I generally keep my hair short. I needed a haircut before the lockdown but didn't get round to it, so now it's getting pretty long/messy. My wife always wants me to grow it long and style it, because like most wives she wants me to dress like a metro-sexual douchebag which I absolutely refuse to do. But she'll get her wish with my hair over the lockdown.
Classic, I'm in exactly the same boat. However, Bonesetta is gutted though as there's no styling this jewfro and I got bored week one and got the clippers in to style in some mad dogs. Also got full beard growing as ramping up for a photo project mimicking my dad and his siblings with their different facial hair styles for a family calendar my cousin does every year. So pretty much a melt between this:
And this:
-
@Bones outstanding. I've been considering letting the beard grow and just not styling my hair in any way to go for the Jesus/homeless look. Just need to get through the phase where it itches like hell, which is when I usually shave it off.
-
@No-Quarter I'm in the latter stages of that! Usually when I get to this stage I shave it into a bogan goatee and get m4l'd back to the bathroom.

Today was always going to be the happy/sad day of lockdown for me.
Happy: today is Mum's 80th birthday!
Sad: her rest home is only 1.5km away, but it may as well be on the moon for all the good that is at the moment. The very very slight silver lining of Alzheimer's is that covid-19 is mostly a background thing on the news to her, and she's not worried about it at all.
Work has been busy in lockdown, which has certainly made the time fly. The downside is that there are people out there in some pretty difficult situations, and where there are answers for them - the answers often aren't happy ones.
-
I was enjoying myself until today. Then within one hour had two different grown men on the phone in tears about their situation. Fucking sucked , put one on to lifeline as was clearly looking for that sort of thing, the other prob needs it but would not accept it.
Those calls made me evaluate this situation in a whole new light. This lockdown is taking a massive toll, that is mostly unseen inside bubbles. -
@Baron-Silas-Greenback I had a networking meeting this morning, and many of them are clients of mine, and you can see the strain on the faces of a few of them, but I have other clients who I know had a shit ton of work on prior to the lock down, I know some of it will be there after, but the world will be different, even if they due go back to level 3 and 2 in the next 2-4 weeks.
One also mentioend 2 Dr's that have lost thier job too, although one of them has picked up work elsewhere...
-
It's shit for a lot of people.
That's what annoys me so much about all the people I see flouting the lockdown rules in bigger or smaller ways.
People, today, who were wandering though the supermarket without even a fucking basket - their shopping was so small.
One fuck-up by one person could end up costing us all billions of dollars.
-
@Donsteppa ND will never return to exactly how it was. I think international is tucked for a long time sorry @mariner4life and I fear we could be in for a long - recession. Years not months.
-
@Donsteppa Happy 80th Birthday to yo mamma! Sure that's hard for you and family being unable to visit. Celebrate when 2020 stops being a bitch.
Sounds like it's been pretty shit for a few of you today/yesterday. Hope you are all dealt a better day today/tomorrow- depending one when you read this.
-
There are always going to be people that this affects more than others.
The situation is in place to "look after everyone" but not everyone can be looked after.
I'm just happy that we are not an Italy or Spain. I don't think NZ could cope with that type of death rate, long term.

Had been giving myself a rest from the board for a bit and clicked on this thread as I thought it was meant to be the 'personal stories' one.
Can we take the 'how well the govt is doing' stuff to NZ thread and away from here?
This one can be left as a bit of a sanctuary. -

This one can be left as a bit of a sanctuary.I must say I'm feeling a little covid thread fatigue this morning. All of us have our opinions about what is the best course of action and no one appears to be winning anyone else over. The cooking thread is probably today's favourite right now, the meme one has been too quiet to receive serious consideration

The pressure is on @MiketheSnow. He's turned himself into the Maximus Decimus Meridius of memes. Are we not entertained?

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not (or whether previously posted)?
Supermarket queues:https://www.howlongistheline.org/
Obviously needs people to use it to make it accurate, and I have only had 20 min waits for the 2 times that I have been, but not a bad idea if it is worse in some areas.

I had a two hour wait yesterday but I could wait at home as you receive a text and you have 5 mins to get there. I left the farm with about 10 mins and got the text half way to town.
