@catogrande said in Coronavirus - UK:
It is widely (sorry bad pun) known that being a fat bastard significantly increases the dangers of covid, going to the gym or on a diet is no protection NOW
They've had 18 months. If someone was to ask me six weeks into the last "seven day lockdown" I had to put up with, how many fat fluffybunnies I'd sacrifice to get to life as we knew it pre-covid, I'd have said all of them.
Yeah, but we’re dealing with the now problems and implying that losing weight is a sensible alternative to getting vaxxed is quite frankly ludicrous.
Good idea. If only I’d said that 🙄

In the same way I didn't imply 'losing weight is a sensible alternative to getting vaxxed'..? 🙄

No. You didn’t but my original post on this topic was replying to one that did imply that.

So after almost 2 years Boris finally gets round to requiring a negative LFT to enter the UK, then Day 2 and Day 8 testing.
Thrown UK holidaymakers hopes of a pre-Christmas trip into disarray.
One family I know of would have needed to do 33 tests at a cost of £1k to enjoy a 1-week ski holiday.
Absolute fucking shambles

good to see our news reporting of the 51,000 new infections in the UK, and then the way they said an additional 41 deaths made it seem like this was alot...but I guess focussing on the infections helps with the scaremongering.

Absolutely. Zero other reasons for it. Did they post up the number of new infections of cold and flu while they were at it? If they don't have a tidal wave of hospitalisations I don't want to hear about it

Dripford shuts down two Stereophonics and Tom Jones concerts at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to keep us all safe.
Pubs, restaurants and clubs good to go.
Here we fucking go.
Merry Fucking Christmas you bunch of useless, myopic CUN*S

The devolved decision making over this pandemic has been a complete shit show and I feel very sorry for you guys over the Severn. To highlight the stupidity of this, Ms Cato no2 lives on the River Wye. England one side, Wales the other. In her village there is a pub either side of the river, just over the bridge. When one side was locked down everyone just hopped over the bridge and vice-versa.
Laughable.

Will make for a good movie

Excellent. Mr Wrong.
Will someone please muzzle this fucktard

Looks like plan B and WFH, according to The Guardian
Move to plan B confirmed
Here we go. Johnson says it is clear that Omicron is spreading faster than Delta and that the 568 cases of the variant in the UK is almost certain and underestimate.
Johnson says: “It’s now the proportionate and the responsible thing to move to plan B.” From Monday people must work from home

Didn't stop one journalist criticising him for not planning for the Omicron variant months ago.
Loved Whitty's put-down of the same bloke who criticised the Booster roll-out as being too little, too late: "I'll try to put this as mildly as I can, but before criticising, it would be a good idea to have some knowledge of a vaccine roll-out"

Is this the same fucktard that predicted 100,000 cases a day post lockdown? His dissertation should be reviewed by his university.

Oh and now there's been a "partly virtual" quiz. How the fuck can it be partly virtual?
Probably the same way Mrs M's DiL Christmas party did it last year. Zoom call with the people working in one office on one camera, the other office on another camera and the homeworkers joining in individually.

A covid scare story on the BBC earlier today with lots of graphs showing rising infections with speculation about the Omicron variant. Hidden away was a graph showing a continued reduction in hospitalisations. For sure we don’t know if that is going to hold good through the winter but at least give it some coverage FFS.😤
