Rise of Skywalker available today fellas, 4th of May. Great marketing.
I'd better make sure I watch it repeatedly to see where it sits in the SW Movie echelon.......at the moment it's 4th, 5th or 6th, duking it out with Rogue One and Revenge of the Sith for me.
Same here. At the moment for me there a clear top 5: the original trilogy, TFA and Rogue One. I could watch any of them over, and over, and over.
Then I'd say I have TLJ and TROS in a second echelon. I'm hopeful I can bump TROS up a notch, but I fear I won't after tonights' re-watch.
Then lagging waaaaaay behind are the prequals and that Han Solo crud.

You had me agreeing with you until you called Solo crud.
Thought it was a solid SW movie, have re watched it several times, think it sits nicely in the middle of the pack.
On the whole I’d say the stand alone films have easily out done the new trilogy. -

I think if anything people have gone back and looked at the prequels in a much more favourable light in the last few years. They've created a whole TV series around the era too.
At the moment I'm basically.....
The holy trinity ( I know there won't be a new movie that breaks this list and I'm comfortable with that )
R1/ROTS/TROS ( I need to see the latter a few more times as discussed )
AOTC ( the second half of the film kicks arse, I don't care what anyone says )
TFA ( a fun romp, not without it's flaws )
TPM ( I enjoyed it, some great scenes, some utter crap too )
Solo/TLJ ( not Star Wars finest moments ) -

On the whole I’d say the stand alone films have easily out done the new trilogy.Yeah, I still don't get the hate for Solo.
I understand that it had bad timing and the change of director made it a little disjointed but on the whole it is a good romp and IMO is closer to the OT than most of the others.
If Lucas had the effects capability to do that train scene he would have jumped at it. -
I've watched Solo a couple of times, and can't agree. It's largely dross. In fact I can't think of a scene or sequence which I really enjoyed and want to see again. The nearest would be seeing the Imperial troops fighting in the trenches which was fun for some reason. Even in TPM there were good scenes like the space battle at the end, the Naboo forces re-taking their palace, and maybe the opening sequence featuring Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.

The Kessel Run (the escape) was great fun.

That's my top 5, with TLJ and Solo next, then TROS (which I'll try rewatch soon so I've got a better idea of how I rate it), then daylight, then more daylight, then daylight x infinity, then the prequels. The prequels actually sit in the worst movies I've watched period, not just in SW.

I actually wanted to see more of the WW1 style battle.

I reckon the last 3 movies released have been varying degrees of rubbish.
Solo was an average story but with the characters completing lacking any kind of charisma.
The last one released was one of the worst movies I've watched in a while (the worst being Uncut Gems).
They've been so bad that I'm not sure I'll bother watching another one. I even enjoyed the prequels a lot more.
The Mandalorian is pretty good though. Will renew Disney+ when the 2nd season comes back.

The prequels might have fared better if they didn’t give off the ‘Filmed entirely in front of a green screen’ vibe.. which they were. There’s almost nothing organic or real to them.
It’s almost like watching live actors in a cartoon.Late 90’s George Lucas seemed almost obsessed with CGI, look what he did to the original trilogy with the special edition.

Good run down. At best Solo is just a pretty solid romp. The train scene was pretty good fun but overall it’s definitely bottom of the pile. Extremely bland lead villain and that female droid ???? Fuck right off.
The young solo dude was decent but young Lando didn’t have a shred of the class that Billy Dee brought to the role.

@Virgil you mean like they have been since March 2014 when this thread was started?
Well that will never change, I meant today in general.. obviously the focus I’ll shift to the Fernies soon... assuming I don’t forget they finish on Wednesday ( I think)
