@catogrande bathroom mirror space is precious mate.
I’m surprised to hear you say that. For someone with my looks it’s a given but well…

@catogrande calm down now dear

Getting medieval on people who mess with your car isn't a crime - it's a civic duty.

So here we come back to the question at hand. I told the sainted Mrs C to fuck off and get rid if this useless pile of shit and give my my £139 back.
Am I the arsehole here?
My wife would be non-too pleased if I did that, I know better than to say such things even if it's the truth.

Why are people so shit. For what appears to be for no reason mine and a patient's driver side windows were smashed in our car park today. So pissed off.
My poor little Steve Coogan has been abused.Grumpy as fuck.
Geez, sorry to hear that. Hope it's not too much of a hassle to fix.
Pond life who do this sort of shit could do with a visit to @snowy 's cellar...
I have just made some space.
The guy that did the same thing to my car at AKL airport a few years ago has been there for a while and I have just just, um, "made some room".

@victor-meldrew let's not summon the dark one, he's busy in the basement trying to get all of his "staff" vaccinated, and they aren't cooperating by the sounds of the covid nz thread.
Meh, I'm grumpy and Steve feels dirty now, like the time I let an Audi driver park him for me. Time for a new car I think. And I've got big gin lined up for later as I've sulked at work and I'm going to WFH tomorrow.
The dark one is well and truly summoned.
It does feel like a violation doesn't it - that's the window, not the Audi driver they should be allowed to do what they like.
Over the vaccine thing. Let the morons die is my attitude now. The sooner it happens the rest of us get a life again (and I can get a gourmet burger). I won't get into the "Boring burger club" that seems to have been started around here either.

I don't need help. Although an overseas collaboration might be worth doing.
I can't just jump in plane anymore and there is a window smasher that needs "fixing".

Koolaid drinkers who add no meaningful benefit. Enrolling me in a course that has no relevance to my job and one I unsurprisingly have no interest in. Boss rings me to say they're bothering him now because I haven't done it.

You could sound a bit more grumpy about it.
He's asthmatic so he's probably already in a huff.

What's wrong with you today, Magic Dragon? No frolicking by the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee?

I have to get this off my chest and ask for the verdict of the Fern collective. The question is: am I the arsehole? Now before you all pile in with a predictable knee-jerk reaction. Hear the story.
We are a two toothbrush family in that we have two electric toothbrushes. One was a cheapy and the other was about £50. Of course as soon as the cheap one was a year old it wouldn’t charge properly, the on switch wouldn’t function but it would turn on randomly, usually in the middle of the night. So. We’re all in agreement, a replacement is needed. Step forward Mrs Cato.
My dear better half surprised me with a new toothbrush at a cost of £139. How can a toothbrush cost £139? Just how? Well, seeing as you’ve asked, I’ll tell you.
Said new toothbrush comes with Bluetooth charging. It has a charging carry case that allows you to charge your toothbrush and your phone from the same plug. It has a holder that you can attach to the bathroom mirror that you can mount your phone on which you can sync with the toothbrush so that it can guide you through the timing etc of your brushing. Moreover, it allows you to download your brushing experience and keep a log of your progress.
So here we come back to the question at hand. I told the sainted Mrs C to fuck off and get rid if this useless pile of shit and give my my £139 back.
Am I the arsehole here?
No more than usual.
Alternative plan:
You should thank her very muchly, ask her politely to return said electric toothbrush as you need money to spend on her family (and bluetooth reduces sperm or some such paranoid myth babble).
1 On reimbursement, take said money to pub, with photo of mother in law.
2 Place photo on middle of dartboard.
3 Stand back, holding darts. Celebrate her family with said darts (of pointy love).
4 Drink enough guinness or hard liquor in Shane MacGowan-mode so you won't need an electric toothbrush ever again. -
Sage advice but alas, too late.

@catogrande what happened then?

Am I the arsehole here?Quick poll in the antipodean household and it's two votes to nil in your favour. £139

Yes, Shane MacGowan has new teeth, and it just looks weird. Oh, I see what you mean..

It is being returned but under protestation. She keeps coming up with new reasons as to why she bought it/we should keep it. Latest one “ooh look, it has a whitening feature”. What’s that? I ask. “ I don’t know.”
I exasperatedly explain that a whitening feature would need either a different toothpaste/ bleacher or would just be fiercer brushing but it does not compute. “They can’t just say whitening feature, there has to be one”… 🙄

@catogrande is it an oral b one, sounds a lot like mine, except I just brush my teeth with it and all that extra jazz is no use to me,definitely got mine at least half price during some amazon sale. I feel like the tooth fairy @canefan needs to be the voice of authority on this one...
It does not matter who the manafacturer is only that it is a waste of money and technology.
Particularly as it doesn't even talk to your car.
-
@catogrande to answer you question: have electric toothbrushes.

Need to vent. This seems as good a place as any.
Fucking families. So as all who care, know, I live in the UK. Predominantly because my wife's family is massive (she's one of 6) and mine is pretty small. And mine love to travel (fuck you Covid). So it makes the most sense, and we have, right up until last weekend, a very close relationship with all her sisters & their worse halves / kids. Lots of family get togethers & sharing of things - it's great.
Last weekend, sister number 2 moved back to UK from HK. And it's changed absolutely everything, and all of it is to the detriment of the Rage family. I don't mind number 2, she's very driven, single minded and direct. I like that. We don't really have anything in common, but I understand where she is coming from. She's married to bit of a piss-taker who takes responsibility for their their daughter and dogs. You'll see where this is going shortly.
So all got together at eldest sisters place last long weekend. She lives in a massive house in Surrey (about 5 miles from us) with heated pool etc so 24 of us diverged on it. 5 sisters, 5 husbands, 2 sister in laws & husbands & 10 kids & 4 dogs. One big happy family.
Issue 1. Their fucking dog mauled our dog. Not just had a wee fight, mauled. 6 puncture wounds which we had to take to emergency vet. No idea what happened, but our cockapoo is completely submissive. And their sharpei cross is, well, not. Anyway saturday avo we all chilling and then our dog suddenly let out this huge panicked howl. Rushed across and saw what was going on. Our dog is now hugely traumatised and not the same as she was. Has started panic pissing all the time again (including inside) and just isn't quite the same. Going on for 9 days now, only hope it improves.
Issue 2. Their 10 year old daughter mentally bullied the shit out of my 7 year old. She's always been very very close to her 12 year old cousin (who is super quiet). But miss 10 decided she wanted miss 12 all to herself, and just got in between them at all times, said really spiteful things, and did stupid girl things like arrange to run away from my daughter all the time. Upshot is, my 7 year old cried on Sunday and refused to stay. So we took her home (wife was home with dog, so could pick ups up) and the next morning she got really upset about going back. Basically her relationship with miss 12 is now toast.
Now both of these things suck. But what's worse, is that since then, despite the Rage family having 2 out of 5 members fucked over, everybody else is just treating it as if nothing happened. Constantly sending messages about how sister 2 feels bad about the dog, yet neither my wife nor I has received a single thing from her or her piss taking husband. And to do with the daughters ... just seems to be "3 strong characters, these things will happen from time to time". Which is just horseshit. My daughter got trashed by these two bitches which is going to make it super difficult to see the family going forwards. And nobody seems to give a shit. Still putting loads of pictures of miss 10 and miss 12 together with their little bitchy smirks going on. Really upsets my wife, which obviously rubs on to me.
Makes me question what the fucking point is.
I feel better already. Thanks for listening.

@majorrage I'm sure you realise the up vote is not an indication that your situation is good ... More am acknowledgement of your story (and we're glad we could help
).
So you think sister is of the ignore it and it will go away mindset? Too hard to deal with.
