Pretty sure Obama called Libya a shithole and media didn’t lose their marbles. But it’s Trump Dederangement Syndrome, and he might have said a nasty swear word in a private conversation that was never intended for public consumption, so... it’ll be the outraged headline news for the weekend. Sad & deplorable.
-
Been mentioned by others but bears repeating... Hollywood virtue-signallers said before the 2016 election that if Trump won they were moving to Canada, which is about 50x farther away from Beverly Hills than the southern border of Mexico is, and a farck of a lot colder! The unspoken-but-obvious inference here is that maybe a lot of leftist celebrities are racist? Or maybe they’d just prefer to not have to live & work in there? And if some of these third-world paradises aren’t in-fact shitholes, then these leftist celebrities should theoretically have no objection to illegal immigrants being returned.

It’s bullshit for the democrats to talk impeachment over a private comment but a comment from one source saying Africa is shit doesn’t really mean much.

What if it’s NPR?

Port au Prince isn’t in Africa , let’s not get our shitholes confused.

Anyone with a brain knows that countries in Africa are shitholes. All this faux outrage is hilarious. This will win Trump support.

Just absurd, it's not even an opinion. That those countries are shitholes is an objective fact. Surely people aren't stupid enough to buy into that - if you think that's offensive then you are a dishonest piston wristed gibbon.
-
so if they aren't shithole countries then there should be no reason not to deport illegal immigrants back there right? I mean while everyone is pontificating how amazing these places are.
I'm pretty sure Trump's just pulled a 'Homer' (Simpsons ref) here, but you can see where the '3D chess master manipulator' argument can come from.
-
I just think the large left-leaning media outlets have lost the plot. Any reasonable criticism tends to get lost in the sea of bullshit they "report" on.
-
Speaking of shit hole countries.
The rate they are going it should be a reflection of the ‘modern world’ by 3054

@Virgil now that the writing is on the wall for the oil industry Saudi Arabia is realising they won't be relevant in the nearish future. Can't happen soon enough.

Get over it, your country is for the most part a crime ridden shithole

- It was a private meeting.
- Even if we accept that Donald used a very-very bad nasty insensitive swear word, we don’t know the context or the rhetoric. (E.g. “Yeah Dick, but if you get your way on immigration lotteries and chain migration, a lot of Americans are going to think we’re letting in everybody from every shithole country in the world like the Somali who just tried to blow up the NY subway — are they wrong? what are we supposed to tell them??”)
- The guy who reported the “shithole” comment is Dick Durbin, who has a history of lying about White House meetings.
- Trump denies the charge, as do others who were at the meeting.

The response to this shit hole thing really is something to behold. Even worse is the fact that it's disputed that it was even said. But that of course won't prevent the screams of racist, white supremacist, qualified to lead the kkk etc. From what I gather, Trump mentioned Japan and South Korea as desirable nations, yet incredibly enough the only mention is of "white" Norway to highlight the evil racist angle. Incidently, Norway is facing it's own struggles with people from shit holes.

I saw the piece Trevor Noah did on this, where he:
- Takes offense to South Africa being a shithole, even though he left because it's a shithole
- Lamented the lack of black people in Norway (can you imagine someone lamenting the lack of white people in a country?).
Outrageous hypocrisy and racism.
What grates me is the racists on the far right, inspired by Nazism, are ostracised from society and rightly so - they are abhorrent. But the racists on the left, inspired by Marxism, get a free pass. The term "white privilege" that gets thrown around is the definition of racism - applying characteristics to a group of people based on skin colour.
Whether racism is inspired largely by disgust (Nazis) or resentment (Marxists) makes no difference at all - both are awful and responsible for some of the biggest atrocities in the 20th century. The Marxists dress their resentment up as compassion for the downtrodden, which unfortunately seems to fool people and turn them into useful idiots.

It's funny how even the most vile racism is permitted when a pet minority doesn't toe the line.

So everyone yet again gets caught up in side issues (whether countries are actually shitholes) and finger pointing at extreme comments by the outraged minority while totally missing the original point.
I'm determined not to fall into Trumps mode of working which is to say something (often not true) then wind up the outraged on both sides to divide further, entrench views and let them fight among themselves while he works through his own (slightly less outrageous) ideas. Classic distraction.
Surely the point here is not whether a person comes from a shithole but why that should enter into the criteria at all.
'MAGA'? Wasn't A's greatness founded on immigration of people searching for economic and religious freedoms? Would they have grown into the powerhouse they did by inviting only the aristocrats of europe along?
Surely one of the ideals of western democracy is not to judge based on race or origin. Racism is not just a skin colour thing, it is the pre-judgement of people based on their origins.
I know it isn't an official part of US decree but they have for years quoted part of their 'greatness' on the poem at the Statue of Liberty.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”By all means, check people out before letting them in, but don't pre-judge their potential based on their origin.

I can't see this ending in anything but a world of problems:
