Trump wasn't the only buffoon - not by a long way way. The likes of Pelosi, Di Brasio and Cuomo are way up in that pantheon.
The danger is the current fashion for blaming all that's wrong in the US on Trump, his opponents engaging in name-calling and childish antics just hides the deeper malaise in US politics.

@Victor-Meldrew thats not untrue, but only one of those people was POTUS. Only one had access to all the resources you could want, all the reach to the people necessary. All the access to the science, both domestic and international. All the ability to project messaging to the common folk.
He doesn't get a pass just because other politicians acted like tits too.

I don’t know what’s worse, the narcissistic whining or the biased reporting.

Does he really have the power that, say, BoJo has? Trump had to fight Congress to restrict visitors and to get his economic package thru. In the UK, it was just done.
All the ability to project messaging to the common folk.
Agree he was shambolic and not up to the crisis. Not helped, though, by his opponents telling the public there was nothing to worry about and Trump was scaremongering and effectively exaggerating the dangers.

No, I'm not giving him any pass. I'm just arguing that focussing solely on Trump's handling of the crisis hides the seriously fucked-up nature of US politics ATM.
You have to wonder if there'd be much difference in outcome with a Biden or Hilary POTUS if the Republicans actively opposed almost every crisis measure as the Democrats have done.

Some anti Trump stuff in here that isn't needed, especially as they are basically making a populist argument (which is really what got trump elected), but the Mabo of the piece is worse considering.
During our lives, we are likely to see world power change from the USA to China - for better or (far more likely) worse.
This was a great article. Agree the anti-Trump stuff is a bit much at times, but the underlying points are solid. This paragraph got me:
Silly nonsense like this is why Trump will win this election
and his recommendation or rather a suggestion (hydroxychloroquine not a household disinfectant)) is what many are likely to agree with. But only a few are willing to speak out

You don't even keep up with what Trump says, at one point he was talking about killing the virus with bleach.

A little bit of good news
Israel struck a diplomatic agreement with the United Arab Emirates on Thursday to establish “full normalization of relations” even as it forgoes for now plans to annex occupied West Bank territory in order to focus on improving its ties with the rest of the Arab world.
In a surprise statement issued by the White House, President Trump said he brokered a deal that would lead to Israel and the Emirates signing a string of bilateral agreements on investment, tourism, security, technology, energy and other areas while moving to allow direct flights between their countries and set up reciprocal embassies....................

that speaks to me too, pure left and right politics aside, I think a great leader would have been able to get at least a consensus to agree with him...but from the outside it spread like the people that already liked him like him more and hate the others more...and those that didn't like him less..so more division

Kamala Harris. Its just a debate. So she's willing to say anything in a debate . But doesn't really mean it (I guess though she is being honest. Thats how most politicians operate but most would never admit it. )
Thanks for coming, please pick up a gift bag as you leave.

If the polls tightened a couple of weeks ago it would've been interesting. It's too late to do anything different now
It'll be interesting to see if the traditional bumps happen. Normally you'd get one after naming a VP candidate (too early to say on Harris) and one for the convention.
I suspect both will be lacklustre. A convention will no crowds might be more obviously creepy

@Duluth
Not sure the independents who genuinely want to take a look at Biden will accept him hiding away. The Dems will probably stretch that out as far as they can for early mail in voting. I still think Trump should go on the liberal networks - double edged sword perhaps. I think the slickest politician of the four is actually Mike Pence.
