Will be interesting to see the turnout for the euro elections and where the votes go.
Labour/Conservatives - Same shit different day
Ukip/Brexit Party - Fuck y'all we want out
Lib Dems/CUKChange UK party - Remain forever! Will also be interesting to see what the turnout figures are like.
-
@Catogrande My guess would be a similar turnout to the last one with those given up on politics offset by those insensed by the madness. Conservatives to be the biggest losers with a significant portion of their votes going between the new parties and ukip.
Tommy could be very interesting. I understand he could get in with as little as 8% of the vote which going by the last vote could be at about 140,000. I guess we will see how many do actually support him in towns like Rochdale and Huddersfield.
-
@Rembrandt You could be right about the turnout but something else to factor in is that we don't really seem to care much about the Euro elections historically. I agree though that TR is likely to provide some fireworks.
-
@Catogrande yep no one gave a damn when I lived there. Still if you were part of the 17.4 million it must be tempting to stick a finger in Europes eye for shits and giggles.
-
@Rembrandt For sure there will be a lot of disgruntled people thanks to the mess we're in. Funny though isn't it that political parties are standing for elections to a body they don't want to be a part of?

It would need more than that wouldn’t it? There’s 8 seats in NW England, and my maths tells me that to win one of N seats you’d need 1/(N+1) of the votes. So that’s 1/9 or 11.1%. With a turnout of 1.8m they’ll need 200k votes, about double what the Lib Dems got last time. Sargon’s SW England has a similar target, about 14.3% of 1.5m or 214k votes for one of 6 seats.

I lived in the UK last time(s) they tried to do something about knife crime. Banned combat knives in the 90s. Banned knife sales to under 18s in the mid 2000s. Look how well that has worked
The classic knee-jerk, "something must be done, do it for the victims, think of the children" response (sound familiar). Nearly always has the opposite effect.
And you end up with tossers like this MP suggesting putting GPS trackers on knives... (yes, really)
-
@Victor-Meldrew I love it. You had better have a bloody good explanation! Like fishing. Or troublesome shoelaces that you have to keep cutting the frayed ends off.

To think tossers like this make our laws...fark me.,
I think he's pretty far away from being a lawmaker. He can vote on such things though which is worrying, considering this from Wiki...
"On a summer boat trip in 2016 Mann had to be rescued from drowning by fellow MP Johnny Mercer because he was "ashamed to admit" he could not swim. Writing to raise awareness, he said he endangered his life because he was "afraid to own up to something that [he] considered an embarrassment".
Sadly it appears that he has since taken swimming lessons.

Interesting episode of have I got news, with Mercer!

Seems legit 🤔. So where do I take my canteen of cutlery to get the GPS transmitters retrofitted? I assume Scott Mann is picking up the tab.

Right you are! Looks like I was looking at the 2009 results. Interestingly that year they had 9 seats and the last one to sneak in there was the infamous 'Nick Griffin' from the BNP with 132k votes. I wasn't very tuned in to politics back then but was the media back then as hard on him as Tommy now? From what I understand of Griffin he is actually the racist that mainstream media purport (want) Tommy to be..funnily enough he still has a twitter account and is very critical of Tommy Robinson.

Journo's still ripping through Sargon's vids and pulling out some spicy one liners completely out of their context to try and destroy him. It's bloody pathetic and I do feel for the guy cause this sort of heat on your family has got to take its toll the police apparently gave the Daily Mail his phone number..pretty concerning.
The chief minister of Gibralter (part of SW England for elections) has now got in on the act condemning him from off of a Buzzfeed smear.
Anyone who has watched his videos know this is all massive BS.
His response is pretty funny though. -

Mercer is his pal right? Will have to dig that one up. Good to see listed as one of Mann’s achievements is Honorary Vice President of Wadebridge Cricket Club. Now if that’s not a vote winner I don’t know what is.
