@taniwharugby Scott Barrett at lock, instead of Vaa'i (who doesn't even play there, at the moment).

So what would a startimg 15 look like right now, with our injuries.

    Any surprises?

    Moody, Samsoni, Hodgman

    Both LHs.

If, hypothetically, JB is used at 12 and Jordan goes to fullback, then Ioane might have to move to the right wing again. There are more options for a power left winger than right wingers.

@taniwharugby ALB was remarkably slow against the Crusaders. He's too slow to be centre - can't take a break.

RI is in an AB break, not injured.

    Rieko isn't.

If you are only selecting fit players as of now, scratch BBBR too.

Perofeta. Great passing game, great short game. Combination with Christie and works brilliantly with the quick ball Smith would provide too. Get him in.

At the very least he’s a clear third choice that’s worth a look at the next level. After that clutch kick, his goal kicking has been disappointing but the rest of his game has been great. All the time in the world.

I like him but I honestly can't recall him getting too many opportunities to show what he can do against the better teams. Hopefully he gets the chance soon.

@bovidae I thought Ioane was, didn't realise BBBR was.

So then is Vaai and SB locking then...

I'd push ALB to 12 and Ioane to 13 then.

Would like to find a spot for Leicester, but can't see him pushing out Reece/Ioane/Jordie or even Bridge 😕 for a wing spot.

@crazy-horse really? He's been extremely impressive every outing if you ask me - with the bonus being he often plays flat and/or on the move, not deep and static.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Foster give Havili one more run-out at 12 to see how he goes, after hopefully working n his game, and then go for that option if it doesn't work out. Reiko then has enough time to settle in at 13 before RWC2023.

We'd really be screwed if we didn't have ALB available at 12 or 13.

Agree, I enjoy watching him play. I just think it would be good to see him start at 10 against the better teams. I stand to be corrected but my memory tells me he has mostly been at 15, with a change to 10 later in the game (MP aside).

@crazy-horse He definitely needs to demonstrate game management against better good teams. That said, he seems to have improved at 10 this year.

Out of sight IMO. Not sure I've spammed this thread with it yet, so I'll say again he's the new Cruden.

I love how predictive wrote that last bit for me.

I don't have access to NZ Herald subscription, but who are the players Gregor Paul is referring to here; https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/gregor-paul-two-young-players-a-beacon-of-hope-for-all-blacks-rugby-world-cup-chances/DCH4A7E7GAUNNGW2KLLNPYWRVM/

I've been on record that I think Newel is the future, for quite a while, however I don't think he'll get a go until post WC. However, both DeGroot and especially Hodgman should get chances this year. Some of Hodgman's passing and work around the field has been excellent lately.

The options at LH are greater than those at TH. If we cull both Laulala and Ta'avao then is Lomax really the answer? He didn't do himself any favours with his scrummaging yesterday. So then it becomes Ofa and who else? I guess this is a long answer to saying that the need to find one or two new THs is more important.

BTW, for anyone that has the Blues-MP game recorded can they check who packed on what side of the scrum when Ofa and Karl were playing together. A mate of mine said that Karl was on the TH side and Ofa remained on the LH. I wasn't looking close enough to notice. Interesting if true.

@bovidae Karl was named on the tighthead side on the bench as Fusita was the bench loosehead.

Fletcher Newell a bolter for AB tighthead?
