Will Jordan's try scoring
-
61 posts and no mention of Doug. lol . I would assume he was also extremely fast at amassing his tries?

What the try scoring lists show is how we dont hang onto players past their prime.(or stupidly believe they are past their prime or play them out of position) Our top try scoring wings or FB's often find themselves replaced by the next big thing. Where as other countries hang onto theirs, look at Habana, Shane Williams etc.
How likely is it an All Black wing will ever play 100 tests let alone play long enough to threaten 60+ test tries? -

I know you’re a cricket fan, you could compare it to when Jeff Thomson lost his pace and unlike Hadlee and Lillee he didn’t “better” himself as a bowler to make up for it ?
J Savea is still playing but by all accounts he is a shell of his former self.
I argued this point with @Nepia and almost found myself in the awkward position of defending John Mitchell when he dropped Cullen.
( I had a cold shower afterwards )

I mentioned Doug's record.
Actually, he made a late run and scored 15 tries in his last 17 tests.
So 34 in his first 45 tests.
Will needs 3 tries in his next 15 tests to match him.

Yeah - especially if he shifts to fullback - which he probably needs to do to prolong his career.
Breaking it purely as a wing seems really difficult. There's always another freak just around the corner
So Jordan and Rieko both have a reasonable chance assuming Jordan moves to fullback. Score the bulk of the tries as a winger, then move to a position with better longevity but a lower strike rate
