Two quick wickets to the short ball trap today.

Head isn't going to sit still on this.

Probably to his detriment. If he lasts he might go into a big score e once the bowlers are all rooted.

If this is how test cricket will get played from now on I’m checking out. Someone needs to die again before they change the rules. ALMOST as bad as Rawalpindi test matches

The wicket isn't giving much assistance at this point.

    All hail Bazball

Absolutely fair comments and good for you.

What rules would you like changed and what is your problem with the current situation?

Certainly isn't. Hence why England are playing the long game with setting traps etc. Not sure what that has to do with Bazball myself.

Australia still a long way ahead despite not playing anything like Bazball.

As soon as I type that they start picking things up. Ponting thinks they have enough (so do I) so I guess now it's just about putting a bit more on the board pre declaration. Wouldn't surprise me if they declare at 393 ahead just to be smart arses ...

Starc bowling really well - fuller and swinging it a lot. Big contrast with England bowlers

Both teams have managed to get into good positions with the bat, and then lose a flurry of wickets during this Test.

From what I've read of sessions 2 & 3, it sounds like we've had Neil Wagner type bowling at both ends for most of the day?

Sure there's your short pitched bowling approach but there's also this:

This is shit cricket, predicated by a wicket that offers nothing to the bowlers, because the batting thrash wank that is "BAZBALL" aims to take bowlers out of play.

As I said previously, it is the worst parts of India or Pakistan in the 90s and even up to today, with milder weather and better sandwiches.

Mod: take the abuse elsewhere Nick.

@NTA why do you have to be abusive?

    There is simply no need.

Especially after a day where Oz bowlers basically proved just how superior they are to the Poms.

With so much swing available to the bowlers it’s still a 40 wicket pitch. Which is what test cricket is about.

Would have loved one more wicket, but I'll take it. Feels like a very tall mountain for England to climb, especially considering they have four number 11s.

Won't relax until I see the back of Stokes though. Very scared of him.

I assure you, it’s time to relax.

Debatable. England is not renowned for its cuisine. I can 100% guarantee the toilet facilities will be better though.

With “Bazball” I think the chickens were always going to come home to roost when they came up against a better team which they have. Man for Man there’s too much class in this Australian team. Stokes and co will need to knuckle the fuck down today if they’re even going to get remotely close but I wouldn’t bet on them getting within 200 personally.

    @MN5 agree entirely.

My view is that the way they play tho is all that has got them close. If played standard cricket, they would be even farther off.

To that extent, it works for the team.

The bowling is so far behind Oz.

    I think that's a fair view MR.

Once you strip away the bluff and bluster of Bazball, I think Australia are just a better side. Not by a wide margin, but by enough that it should show itself over five days.

It's the bowling. Broad and Anderson just aren't what they used to be. They can't sustain pressure, there's a let-off ball every over. The next gen aren't there yet. I wonder if this is Jimmy's last test. Or Ashes test at least. He's had an incredible career but they are carrying him at the moment.
