I am not sure how it is like that? I get how she is trying to be funny, but that joke is old.. and was not really that funny to start with. To me it is just a snide way of insulting someone... and not an original one.
-

Oh I agree it isn't a big deal. I don't think posting on an internet forum in a thread about shit media is exactly egging it up. If I was demanding CGW get taken off the air, and Moa be prosecuted.. and I (and the outraged otehrs) spammed social media with it.. then yeah.. might be the same.

I just think it is an example of more shit media in NZ, in this case a sports show getting involved (repeatedly) in left wing politics.

And I dont think the joke was funny or original.. just snide nasty shit.

And it was certainly not IMO comedy gold.

My care factor is above zero, but only marginally. So is yours though,.. as you are posting about it as well.
-

I agree with BSG, The Crowd Goes Wild should stick to sports and not try to be opinionated or political on unrelated issues. If Mulligan or Rigor wants to re-tweet that sort of stuff, go for your life, but a nameless person behind a company is pretty pathetic. Even if I agreed with what they were saying, it is unprofessional and my respect for them drops.

Do they care? Probably not, but they aren't helping their own ratings when they alienate viewers with their political bias.
-

Kerfuffle is a great word, I need to use it in my every day language a lot more.
-

Weldon did not get fired apparently, he has been on stress leave for a bit and has clearly decided that trying to implement the boards direction to get the ego's under control at TV3 was to much. So he just said 'fuck it'.

I don't blame him when you see the way he has been vilified. The Social media lynch mob has been running around with pitch forks and pictures of him for months
-

The CGW sports only ship sailed long long ago. They have more than half their representation doing political peices/quips/opinions now. It's absolutely awful. Funnily enough, the seemingly most opinionated on the show (Mark Richardson) does the least of it if any at all.

She actually looked really hot early in her career before she decided she wasn't into dick anymore..... Her decline is fucken startling......

[media]
That's down to two things , alcohol judging by the fact pretty much every time I see her interviewed she's going on about drink she got the night before and the fact she was never that hot to start with. Apparently they use some technique to stretch the footage in her early video to make her look taller and slimmer. When she went to states they told her they'd turn into the next Jewel and put her on a diet . She got pissed off and came home and ranted in interviews about how stupid Americans are which is bound to come back and haunt her if she tries to make it big there in this social media age .

Also even if you put her in a rocket and fired her into the centre of the sun she would struggle to be as hot as Jewel. If her interview on prime rocks is anything to go by Sammy C is bang on. -

I thought CGWs rating meant it only borderline viable as it was ? I doubt they want to lose more viewership with their moronic political options . -

Looking from afar, don't know any of these people, it seems serious questions need to be asked of the Board of Directors.

They no doubt had a vision of where they wanted to be, needed to cut costs in a company on the brink of receivership and hired a guy to do that

18 months on they've possibly fulfilled their metrics but in the process have lost a huge amount of personnel experience and knowledge and the bloke they appointed to oversee the transformation. Losing anchors and presenters is one thing (pretty replaceable) but the support staff (e.g.. Mark Jennings seemed pretty important to it all) leaving creates big holes in the day to day running of any company.

This ain't a great business outcome and from a board point of view it's a very poor state of affairs they've now got.

In an age where people readily move around from job to job, creating a culture is pretty important. There are numerous studies showing that people favour job security and a pleasant environment over money.

Add to that the whole TV game is about connecting with an audience, regardless of how dumb, ill informed or shrill, they might be and this whole episode from 2014 appears to be a major fail, certainly a strategy that must set back the company a few years now they have to recruit and all the money that goes with that.

You better make sure you have a highly profitable product if you sacrifice your intellectual property (the staff) for a better bottom line. Practically every business owner will attest that losing and finding good people is one of the biggest challenges to a business.
-

yeah.... nah

It is just a vocal minority on social media and the MSM that are making a big deal over the changes. Weldon was achieving his metrics, doing what eh was asked to do and getting revenue and viewership up.

I think it is a few high profile people in TV3 that didnt like being told what to do, and thought they were bigger than the station. They are not. The board knew this.. they got someone in to deal with these toxic employees.. he did some of it.. but just got so much shit poured on him that he has passed it on to someone else.

Campbell was a ratings and revenue failure. A newsreader doesnt make a jot of difference. And you really think your average viewer gives a shit about Jennings? No. he was made an issue due to social media muppets.

Bad news for the remaining toxic element in TV3.. the board will carry on this path. If the staff memebers dont like it? Fuck off and start there own TV station... with their own money at risk. I have never seen such a bunch of whiny entitled CONTRACTORS as those at TV3
-

Yeah fair enough. You're right there will be KPIs and KRA's that the board will be following and I accept that the current media storm doesn't reflect this.

Puzzling that news isn't a priority as it seems to be the platform that most TV stations the world over prioritise. I guess that's part of their vision for the future and time will tell if the lemmings feed at the reality TV trough - shudder.

Departures of that many staff and the gung-ho CEO leaving in a whimper is not good strategy or management however you want to trivialise it. No company wants a CEO to come in and only perform for 18 months despite what spin they want to put on it - that's not effective governance.

The board are to blame or the "contractors" (are they?) are to blame. I'd say the truth lies in the middle but no way are the Board and the company giving high fives and saying "we're right on track, all's good"
-
