This was a legitimate email sent to Stuff staff last week. Surprised Stuff hasn't gone on a concerted campaign to cancel itself.
Maybe they would have if they'd asked staff to blackface it...

@Smudge do we know why it's inappropriate?
Cultural appropriation? When I went to my Indian mate's wedding in Malaysia we all bought Indian dress. The guests, including his family thought it was cool. We should all have been ashamed clearly

Because the invite was sent by the 'people experience' team (who have changed their name from the obviously inappropriate Human Resources).
This area of any organisation is always full of people tripping over themselves to avoid 'offence' (read litigation).
We can't have a drink on a Friday on premises because someone might say something with a loosened tongue and upset someone else. And if we go offsite then it has to be made very clear that it isn't a 'work' drink but is a group of individuals that know each other through work and at a private gathering. Even then you have to be careful not to talk shop.
As for dressing up, I can kind of understand that it could end up with some dickhead been seen as parodying a group (probably because they were) so avoidance is the best option. Really dumb idea in the first place tbf. -

I do hope someone doesn't tell them about their terrible legacy of wearing traditional European clothes on workdays, terrible cultural appropriation for all us people who came from Europe. When will this insensitivity cease?
Who is them?

Stuff aye?
In PN, went to put a classified in.
First this:
Then the (lovely) lady worked out the $250 price using the grid on the individual paper forms first, then added the total using a pen and paper to do the addition. Carry the 1!
Stuff!!!
Just advertise on the fern, I’m sure there’s no rules against that.

Jesus…..has @voodoo not heard of Tinder, Bumble or Grindr ?
That line of business is usually found around public toilets isn’t it?
