Any Auckland ferners going to this? I would rather hear Murray speak than Molyneaux, the other guy sounds like a bundle of joy too.
Was considering it with the wife but as baby #2 is due in a few weeks we'll probably have to pass - a shame as I find Douglass Murray really fascinating.

I'm going to the Melbourne show. Bringing a gay mate who has recently been enlightened to the whole 'Islam may actually not be very nice to the lgbt' idea. Well on the red pill route, would be great if the idea can spread in the gay community here. Not much more frustrating than seeing gay guys defending islam..well feminists are more frustrating, but for the most part a lost cause for a straight white male to convert.

"Dear Supporter,
With Massey University refusing to back down on barring Don Brash from speaking on campus, it is clear that free speech issues are not going away.
Many of you have contacted us to urge the Free Speech Coalition to become permanent.
The Free Speech Coalition has now resolved to incorporate as a permanent group.
We took the view largely because Massey University’s action in barring Don Brash raises very similar legal and ethical issues as Auckland Council’s ban on Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux from Council-owned venues. In both bases, an authority has used threats of disruptive protest as an excuse to shut down contentious speech. This is the thug’s veto in action.
In the case of Massey’s Vice-Chancellor Jan Thomas, ‘security concerns’ appear to be a ruse to obscure her real motivation – her personal distaste for Don Brash’s opposition to Maori wards on councils, a view she describes as “dangerously close to hate speech”, in addition to his support of the speech rights of the recent Canadian visitors. This is a disgraceful breach of the University’s own charter and mission to "promote free and rational inquiry".
It also set a dangerously low bar for ‘hate speech’.
Therefore, we also resolved that, contingent on raising sufficient funds, we will be issuing legal proceedings against the Vice-Chancellor of Massey University.
At the same time, we continue to engage Auckland Council in the High Court for their capitulation to the thugs. We face significant legal costs, but are advised that the marginal cost of bringing Massey into our case will be lower than for someone launching independent action.
But none of this can happen without your continued support.
Now that we have resolved to establish ourselves permanently, will you become a member of the Coalition for $50?
Alternatively, can you chip in $30, $100, or $500 to our fighting fund to hold Massey University to the long-standing tradition of free speech on university campuses? Donate using our secure website.
We will keep you informed on our progress.
If you would like to become involved in the steering committee, or would like to volunteer, please email nz.free.speech.coalition@gmail.com.
Thank you again for your kind support and for making the Free Speech Coalition possible,
Melissa Derby
Free Speech CoalitionPS: Thanks to the support of many New Zealanders who care about free speech, we have raised enough money to publish a full-page ad in the Herald. We will let you know when it is published."

I am starting to think the recent poltical bias resulting in de platforming of right wing speakers is the best thing that could have happened for Free Speech in NZ.
Overseas these sorts of bans crept in before the public really had a good think about it.
As NZ is about 5 years behind in this issue, many in the public were already ready for the fight. When these ugly tactics raised their heads and were initially successful, they found a ready and vocal resistance. I notice even Simon Bridges has now jumped on board.. which means polling has showed there is political capital in it.
if I was a left wing activist trying to campaign for tighter hater speech laws or de-platforming, I would say the last few weeks has destroyed any chance they may have had. Sure the fight will continue, but the all important narrative and awareness has been set.
Can you imagine how hard it will be to de platform a speaker moving forward and not make yourself look like a far left fascist? -
@baron-silas-greenback even the standard has realised they look like fools for their stance and come out in favour of letting Brash speak .
Of course their main writer failed Labour candidate Greg Presland had to try some embarrassing arse covering over their idiocy over the Canadians last week . -
Ffs , talk about shooting yourself in the foot. These clowns have made Don Brash relevant again

@jegga Absolute bottom feeders.
Great event though, really enjoyed all the speeches even those on the left though shit I disagreed with some of what they said.
Good to see everyone by in large is strongly in favour of free speech, those idiotic protesters do seem to be a very small minority which is good.

Just had a professor from Massey on the news as he had come out in opposition to his boss.
They asked him if he would get in trouble for it, he said he had spoken to his boss as a courtesy before releasing his letter.
He said his boss supported his right to have an opinion...

@jegga think we have had this discussion on here before (on another thread) with how being a good fluffybunny is a very high praise, while even a dumb fluffybunny can just be a term of endearment for your idiot mate.
Just calling someone a fluffybunny, all depends on context and tone, something the internet doesnt have.
Is it the most versatile word?
-
@taniwharugby maybe it is , it allows me to be able to point out her and her party are shit fluffybunnies. I’m sure she would approve
