I'm not outraged but I do think it was an incredibly stupid thing to say. Nor was it immediately obvious what he meant.
Nazi's did use nerve gas on the Eastern frontWhen was that? I thought they never used gas?
I know they used it in WW1.... Quick net check suggests they did not use. Looks like each side was scared that the other would use

No, it really fucking wasn't. Stupidity of the highest order to even bring Hitler into the discussion.
Slightly funny of course, because people were comparing Trump to Hitler at one point, which made the rightard snowflakes squeal like stuck pigs about the unfairness of it all.

Nazi's did use nerve gas on the Eastern frontNo, actually they didnt. So basically you are just wrong, maybe that explains why you dont get his point.
The whole thing is just pathetic. So typical of the outrage culture, this is s pathetically trivial, that if people want to get outraged, it doesn't even register on my radar. A guy says that Assad did something that even Hitler didnt do to his enemies, i.e use chemical weapons.. and people go mental. It is like people cannot see context or connect dots nowadays, much easier to just rant

Assad used chemical weapons on civilians,... Trump did what? Comparing Trump to Hitler is patently absurd. Do you think comparing a dictator who uses chemical weapons on civilians is not more comparable?
But I will leave you guys to it for awhile, might take a page or 2 for the foaming at the mouth to stop from you lot.

He said “Someone as despicable as Hitler, who didn't even sink to the, to the, to using chemical weapons”. Only after did he clarify what he meant.

And here you are, three posts later...
Spicer probably didn't mean anything by it. He doesn't appear to be bright enough to make those connections, or filter anything in his brain:

I don't think Spicer is a very good press secretary, but I agree with @Baron-Silas-Greenback complete non-story.
Not talking about people on here but it's interesting that the same people that threw out the name Hitler left right and centre during the election campaign are now outraged when Spicer compares Assad, an actual modern day evil dictator to him.

How much outrage has there been (legit question)? Surely it can't be as bad as the first couple of weeks post result when people's heads were almost exploding

Yeah I thought it was a mutually assured destruction type deal so it was never used, Churchill was apparently quite keen on using it against the Japanese though.

I've seen it plastered all over MSM and social media, and no doubt the hugely original SNL writers will be furiously tapping away on their keyboards.

I haven't really been paying attention. I get most of my core news here from the cerebral collective that is the Fern!!

"Holocaust Centers" is definately my new favourite phrase. I can't be alone in not wanting Spicer to ever get fired am I? Its like the love child of Borat & David Brent doing the press briefing.
But alas this one is fricking huge & the outrage is at a level its hard to see him carrying on.

I don't reckon he's going anywhere. He is Don's shield, he says dumb shit all the time and deflects attention away from the boss

This time the dumb shit is in Jared's zone. And Jared is currently the voice being listened to.

No doubt at all. But on here, this little oasis of sanity/echo chamber of cognitive bias it's not about outrage at all. It's about how bloody stupid is this man to go down that route and in such a mangled fashion.
-
Quite amazing that "Godwin's law" and "Reductio ad Hitlerum" evolved from internet echo chambers of cognitive bias (nice @Catogrande) to mainstream US politics. Admittedly it happened with an event that seemed rather unlikely in Trump becoming POTUS - and therefore the demise of politics to internet forum levels. Probably been there for quite a while but this pretty much makes it quantifiable.
Shouldn't be surprised though. Tawanese Legislative Yuan is often entertaining:
As for Syria and Assad - comparing despots really is pointless - a turd is still a turd.
