@canefan when I was about 9 or 10 they would show the WWF about 10:30 or 11pm on a Thursday night. My older sister would wake my brother and I up to sneak into the lounge and watch it while the olds were asleep. Great times.
My kids will sadly never experience stuff like that given they everything on a platter because of the interweb.
I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch it and all the kids at school did and they'd talk about it constantly. When I finally was able to watch I was confused that there wasn't two teams because all the kids at school talked about the good guys and the bad guys like they were on two opposing teams.
I don't know why the fuck I never thought to tape it.
I feel your pain brutha, the naughty kids at school ( including one who became at Dad at 15 ) stayed up and watched it and talked about it however I'd argue that watching the taped versions as I did at 3.10pm on Friday ( after sprinting as opposed to walking home from school ) made it even better as it would finish then I'd be off to pick up f n cs and talk rasslin with the old man who was a ringside doctor for one of the independent circuits back in the 70s and met a few, only one who I remembered being Rick Martell.

@Nepia it's on IMDB so it must be real
@booboo I remember the name Children of Fire Mountain but just looked at it on IMDB too and shows as 1979 (I was 5) and doesnt look familiar to me.
Phew, I'm not crazy!
I wonder if they were part of a series?
Hmm, I thought Greer Robson was in Dog Star but IMDB says no.

Anyone remember the bbc Scifi series the tripods?
Now that was some scary shit.
Triffids you mean?
Nope there was one called Tripods. The scare factor really depended on how old you were. I’m guessing I’m older than @mooshld

There was another sci-fi series about the same time as Tripods, called I think V. Aliens overtaking Earth. Usual shit but I do remember them swallowing hamsters.
I think.
-
I think I'm older than both of you. I was too old for The TV series but I remember reading the trilogy by John Christopher it was based on as a young kid and thoroughly enjoying it. I've been a sucker for an alien invasion book/movie ever since
The Triffids (movie) scared the beejuzuz out of me when I first saw it. The Wyndham book not so much - found things like Midwich Cuckoos more disturbing
and yes, from memory, The Masters (Tripods) were partial to a hor d'ouevre of live Hamster

@Catogrande Your right - It was the Visitors that ate rodents!
-
@Catogrande V was pretty fucking cool. ha ha the effects when they ate mice and had the fake throat stretch. Creepy fucking lizards.
The reboot in the 2000's had a smoking hot evil lizard lady if I recall correctly.
