Whilst thankful that on a personal level that me, the mrs, the folks ( retired obviously ) ex wife, her hubby and most close mates will be fine there are also others I know well that will be well and truly FUCKED if the country has another lockdown even for a couple of weeks.
For their sake I'm hoping for the best but shit a brick, it's not good.

We now have local lock downs and police blockades. That's not going to work either. We have to become a completely free covid free zone and stop people coming in, or give up and let it happen.
I can't see middle ground.
I think middle ground is a bit like what we have in Sydney at the moment. 5-20 cases a day, so it's still around. But pubs and restaurants are open, you can go to the footy, see friends etc. Just a few restrictions to numbers, no big weddings, parties etc. It's close to 'normal' if not quite there.
Community transmission? I haven't been watching SYD. Are they all "new cases" from overseas?
Nope, tend to be a few overseas cases each day but the majority are locally acquired. We have a number of 'clusters', but our contact tracers seem to be keeping things relatively stable for now.

I got takeaway gourmet burgers in Warkworth last night. Bloody delicious. I don't want those places to shutdown again.
The covid boundary for AKL should also have been the Puhoi tunnels. Just because we are "super " city, it wasn't in Wellsford, Warkworth, Te Hana. All small towns that need the financial support.

@barbarian I guess that would be known cases, but I don't know how you can arrange low rates with any level of social mingling (soooo tempted)? genuine question on how that is working? I presume some pretty decent social distancing etc?
Snap - you'd already answered that

They doing electronic tracing? Have ordered a QR code for business as they are compulsory next week.

@taniwharugby so you’re in lockdown too? North Auckland 😉
I’m here all week (because I can’t leave my house here in Melbourne)

They would be absolutely crazy to go back to level 4, let alone for a month. I really hope those rumors are just dickheads reveling in giving people a worst case scenario story instead of actual oil from inside the government.

@Snowy Every pub/cafe/restaurant has a log, and you have to sign in if you are eating/drinking there. Some do it electronically, others manually.
Everyone is cautious, but still living life. I'm going out to dinner tonight with a few friends. We've got about 200 active cases in a city of 5 million, so the odds of you picking it up are pretty low.
I have certainly cut down my movements, and most of my friends would be the same, but I'm not too far from a pre-Covid lifestyle.

@Hooroo we were in lockdown from 26 March until 29 April.

Winnie says this has come about by a breach from a managed isolation facility (he got info via a media source apparently)...reckons info to come out in next day or 2, although Govt officials saying they know nothign about it
