7 times. That is not justifiable
See I'm not convinced on that.
I'm sure 4 or 5 times seemed like overkill to someone once.. until they got severely harmed as they hadn't finished the perp off.
Spot on. Police are trained to fire until the threat no longer exists. If it takes seven shots, it takes seven shots.

@Crazy-Horse A notable feature of the layman's analysis of all these police incidents is that no reasonable alternative police behaviours are ever offered and a complete disregard for sanctioned operating procedures.
Mostly people seem to think that every arrest ever must be rational, peaceful and clinical in every detail.
I had an amped up meth head scream obscenities in my direction on the street the other day. I shat myself paralysed between fight and flight.
10 minutes before, I would have adamantly explained to you how I would reason with him and remain composed till he happily wandered off, if ever such a situation arose.🙂 -

Lots of people might've never seen a person really high on meth, let alone got in a physical altercation. Neither have I, but I've read its like fighting a superhuman cyborg.

Yes. A slight adjustment though - it may come back in 2022 for the mid terms
Lead up to 2012 was Occupy Wall St
2014 mid terms was the Ferguson BLM riots
2016 I'm struggling to remember.. women's marches were slightly after voting
2018 was the refugee caravan
2020 BLM againProtests are a good way to energise the base. Look at who the protesters are - mostly the same class and color as occupy. The groups/money organising the protests are the same.
I think you hit the nail on the head. The money to support BLM is political, so can be expected to dwindle in 2021.
Policing funded locally, so if that were the real agenda change at municipal election time would be the onus.

I can understand that. Have you seen the footage? Assuming you have, would you have been happy if that officer had been under your command? I just don’t think anyone gets a free pass on this one.

It's a not dissimilar situation to the Rayshard Brooks shooting.
Suspect resists arrest
Suspect isn't taken down by taser
Suspect ignores police command and walks/runs away
Suspect attempts to arm themselvesThere was no way the officer in this incident was letting Jacob Blake attempt to injure / kill him.

It's another Rembrandt head scratcher right? The Dad can't talk about the case because of legal proceedings surely?

I found this article interesting. Unlike some posters here I only take a pretty outside view of American politics
If the Dems lose again they will only have themselves to blame. As detestable as I think Trump is, the dems can look back having failed to put up an attractive alternative that captures the imagination

Overall narrative is what happened in UK to put Boris in.
Staunch supporters of both parties will vote for their respective parties.
Non-BAME swing voters will vote Trump because of the BLM protests and riots (was Brexit in UK).
BAME swing voters and disenfranchised won't vote.
Republicans have a bigger base in that scenario.
Republicans win.
The article itself, fuck me.
'In recent days the state has become the latest flashpoint in the nation's reckoning on race relations after a white police officer in Kenosha, an hour's drive away from Milwaukee, shot black man Jacob Blake...
A white teenager from Illinois, Kyle Rittenhouse, has been charged with murder after fatally shooting two people at the ensuing protests.'
Agenda much?
'Greg Lewis, a pastor at a black church in Milwaukee, knows first-hand how serious the virus is. When he was hospitalised earlier this year for Covid-19, the doctors told him: "If you don't do exactly what we're going to say, you're going to die."'
Non-medically trained pastor told by doctors to do what they say or he may perish from Covid-19
FFS, that's the same for every fucking patient.
' "Then we have Kamala who was sending people to jail left and right in California, and most of them were people of colour," he says, referring to Harris's time as attorney-general of California.
"People in our community are kind of disgusted: can we support people like this?"'
So black attorney-general standing for vice-president can't get the 'Black Vote' because she was too good at putting black offenders away.

Similar to the situation we had in the UK. A bombastic populist, who in normal circumstances would have little chance of being elected but the opposition were a shambles.

To be fair, that's been said about Johnson to explain every election he's won - either twice as London Mayor, Leader of the Tory Party or as PM.
Can't be all the opposition's fault.

@Victor-Meldrew Livingstone, Livingstone, nobody and Corbyn. Not an impressive list.

So he's never successfully faced any serious opponents in 15 years of high-level politics? Right-o

Not what said. It’s politics so he’s always facing off, some serious, some not. I was merely replying to your point about 2 mayoral elections, the Tory leadership vote and the last GE. Yes you can only beat what is in front of you but also you can be measured against those you beat. He’s without doubt a political animal and hell bent on winning (sorry tautology there) otherwise why not put your hand up when Cameron resigned?
It’s funny and I do find myself being conflicted around Boris. I find him an engaging personality and a breath of fresh air after what has gone before but do I think he will be a good leader? I hope so, but I doubt it. I did vote Tory in the last GE but in all honesty I would have if it was still May there or even God forbid Rubber lips Gove. If I was able I probably would have voted Boris for the Tory leadership, though more in the absence of a viable alternative.
In the end, he is the PM and he is providing direction and I am all for this but I really think we’re in the mess we are because of a lot of ambition and arrogance from quite a few of our so called leaders.
Anyway, back to the point in question, who of any weight has he beaten?

The same weight of opponent that Blair, Thatcher, Wilson & McMillan beat?
At the end of the day, "Weight" is subjective, winning isn't.

Ach! My friend, we will have to agree to disagree on this one I think.

That MSM are now reporting more along the lines of a justified shooting.
