@Siam He strikes me as a placeholder president. For me, he was never going to achieve very much because he doesn’t seem to have the attention span.
He’s not stupid (although nowhere near as smart as he says he is IMO) but I don’t think he has the type of brain that solves difficult problems because he lacks that ability to just be still, empty his mind of preconceptions and and let himself think. Thought leadership takes discipline, which he lacks.
He will be the kind that believes he knows the answer to everything instinctively, which is just rehashing what you already believe. That’s a weakness, but he thinks it’s a strength.
On the other hand he’s not a leader. He can’t do the big picture stuff and lead a shit hot team to get stuff done, because I can’t see anybody being unfailingly loyal to him, because he’ll never be loyal back. He will take credit for people’s work, throw them under a bus, and won’t even see the point of nursing a teammate through a tricky patch.
Just my take on it FWIW.

Anyone else finding the Donald Trump circus in equal parts entertaining and concerning?

How is he even in the race?

Is the any realistic possibility he could be there at the pointy end?You could have reposted this this week

Anyone won yet?
Haven't checked up for a bit.
Last I looked (few hours ago) seemed Biden would get 270-268 if he nabbed Nevada.
And there didn't seem to be a lot of close states where DJT could try and over turn anything.
Have I missed anything in the that 4-5 hours?

Good progress with the wall with lots of opposition
About 15 miles of new wall, replacing around 300mi of barrier in disrepair last time I read up about it.
Not surprising that there was opposition to it, as it is a costly exercise that achieves very little. Lot of tunnels under the border, and lot of drones flying over it. Of course the Mexican equivalent of Bunnings is doing a roaring trade in power tools.
Bit of a white elephant really, well at least the bits that haven't blown down. Sub-contractors, eh? Can't trust 'em.

Energy independence
Please elaborate @Winger
I was tempted by this too but managed to resist the rancid bait...same as the wall aim you've taken on in the next post. You've more energy than me!!!

I've not looked into the energy politics of the USA closely so I'm wondering what moves have been made in the last 4 years to gain this independence, that's all

Interesting information (re the watermark) if true
Will DHS officials follow the watermark to verify the election?
Posted on November 5, 2020I’m happy to see that so many Americans came out to vote in this election. Record numbers cast their ballots for president.
But looking at the total votes cast is a little confusing in certain battleground states.
Pennsylvania had 500,000 more votes than people registered. North Carolina had 500,000 more votes than people registered. Nevada had 150,000 more votes than people registered. Georgia had 100,000 more votes than people registered.
These voter statistics point to something more nefarious going on. Many are multiple standard deviations from recent presidential election totals.
Well reportedly there is a way to discover if all these ballots cast are authentic, according to the Department of Homeland Security officials.
DHS, which printed the ballots, embedded radioactive isotopes and watermarks onto the legal ballots. A quick scan can pick up the identifying features to validate the vote.
This could be a way to authenticate the 138,000 mysterious ballots that showed up in Michigan Wednesday morning after state officials called an end to the count and said it would resume later in the morning. In fact the counting started up again only an hour later with the addition of the new cache of votes.
So will DHS officials follow the watermark to verify the election results? It appears that is what will happen.

Got the numbers for states that Trump isn’t unhappy with? That might show whether these are irregular or not.

Trump's behaviour over the election perfectly encapsulates why he is so reviled. It has nothing to do with whether he is conservative or liberal, or left or right or anything like that. This is the bullshit line trotted out by his supprters - it's all because the media is left wing. It's not really, it's that he is a piece of shit who thinks he is above the institutions.
He's acted like that from the outset, and done his utmost to remove independence from the other branches of government, and basically wants to behave like he is a king. Now he's tweeting that he wants people's votes to not be counted, so even democracy itself isn't above his own self-interest.
Shame on the Republicans who have not had the strength of character to denounce him. If he loses, watch the backlash from these cowards.
Shame on the Democrats who have been so fucking useless that they may not be able to defeat someone both immensely unlikeable and abjectly incompetent, who with 4 years to prepare for it have managed to come up with 77 (?) year old Joe Biden. -
