@MN5 that's classic. Ralph was baby faced though. "sweep the leg!" is still a classic line

So I went to the Event Cinema on George Street (Sydney) last night to watch this little film called The Godfather. And, it was awesome. Best film ever made. 10 taken cannolis out of 10 left guns.

I've actually been waiting years for a big screen version of the Godfather. I missed it by a week in the UK in 1998 when it was re-released. Event Cinemas do a cult film screening once a month and luckily for me decided one of the biggest films of all time was a 'cult' film.

The one bum note about it (aside from the fact the theatre was full and I couldn't put my feet up on the chair in front like I normally do) was that rather than starting the film they had two idiot hype men from some radio station gibber jabber for 20 minutes before the film started - not only were they shit but they also got their facts wrong. If I go to another one I'll wait half an hour before going in.

Anyway, still the greatest film ever made. Brando, Pacino and Duvall are all brilliant.

Which 80's movie had the cheesiest hard rockin' theme song?

Iron Eagle had a good tilt at it.

Joe "Cheese" Esposito definitely matches it......

    Bite your tongue.

Had you said Karate Kid 2 closing song with Peter Cetera singing Glory of Love, maybe. But the Best Around is amazeballs!

@rustycruiser Peter Cetera has some cred.

How about this? Perhaps Celine Dion should have sung the song as originally intended.

I still have a lot of time for Top Gun and either of the theme songs by Berlin or Kenny Loggins. Still has the best aerial combat scenes ever

@taniwharugby there's no way Kilmer could fit in a jet fighter now.

Don't think they'd want him playing shirtless volleyball either.

With the twist: Goose Jnr, growing up without a dad, went off the rails and is the bad guy.
Although - not sure Top Gun is really a franchise(?) which would do twists.

Just watched Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

Julian Dennison and Sam Neill were great. Rima too. A very sweet movie, with a couple of eye-burning poignant moments.

Just wished the villains weren't quite so black cape/twirly moustache bad. I didn't mind the welfare worker so much, but the goober cop got annoying.

And why the fuck does Rhys Darby have to be in every bloody movie? He is like the least funny comedian in the country.

He's got some really stiff competition with Jeremy Elwood for the title of least funny person ever to be referred to as a comedian . Darby just edges him I reckon , future generations are going to ask what people thought of a ginger gurning twat who did silly voices the same way I do about the various characters the Topp twins do now . Ladies there's nothing fucking funny about you both repeatedly saying " Ken" .

I think every NZ "comedian" since the great Billy T died has some sort of weird support network especially when they appear on 7 days.....kinda like "Yeah, we're all unfunny fuckwits with horrific dress sense and faces for radio....but if we all laugh lamely at eachothers shit gags we might fool a few people?"

The worst one is the whale from South Africa.

Saw Pete's Dragon today. Excellent movie, quite emotional at times. Cool story with the making of it too, the whole of Tapanui got in behind it and the town was turned into a movie set for two weeks. The little kid in the opening scene is a Kiwi as well 🙂 would recommend, though probably want the kids (if you're taking them) to be 6ish or older to understand all the themes.
