AEG Power Tools are discontinuing their 58V garden tools range.
Bah humbug.
(AEG is a rebrand of Milwaukee here in Oz I believe)
I didn't really need 58V but at the time they didn't have a mower in 18V (they do now of course). I've got a few of their 18V power tools which are pretty bloody good.
But the 58V was manlier, anyway.
Mower, trimmer, chainsaw, hedger, and recently an awesomely powerful leaf blower.
Ordered a spare 58V battery from Bunnings to cover me. But if the charger dies, I'm fucked...
Bah humbug!

I get irrationally upset by the Aus v England women's cricket series being called "the women's ashes"
The Ashes are named for a very specific reason. That reason has absolutely nothing to do with this series other than the countries involved. I expect next summer i will hear it called "the men's ashes" and this irrational feeling of annoyance will spring up again.

@mariner4life That ship sailed decades ago though. Laeege test series between GB & Oz always used to be for the Ashes. Is that no longer the case?

TBH I don't give a flying fudge what a competition between Oz and Brit women is called. I may not be the right person for this type of GOM though.
But it still shits me we call all other teams the ABs now. I wouldn't even call NZ Maori the Maori ABs back in the day.

couldnt think of where else to put this
so, hired a new intern/casual undergrad, he was super enthusiastic the interview, a bit of holiday experience, late 20's after starting as a chippie before going back to uni to qualify
was due in at 830 yesterday morning to do all his onboarding/hse stuff....i text him at 930...no reply....call him at 1030...no answer....he calls me back at 1100...."for some reason my alarm wasn't set"...

so my first discussion in person with him is a serve about this being a really bad start and he was lucky it was just admin on his first day, other have done field work on their first day
i dont think he's going to make it

Sounds like someone had a big night.
Doing that the day before starting a new job is the rookie move to end all rookie moves though, based on that he should be given the boot.
