couldnt think of where else to put this
so, hired a new intern/casual undergrad, he was super enthusiastic the interview, a bit of holiday experience, late 20's after starting as a chippie before going back to uni to qualify
was due in at 830 yesterday morning to do all his onboarding/hse stuff....i text him at 930...no reply....call him at 1030...no answer....he calls me back at 1100...."for some reason my alarm wasn't set"...
FFS
so my first discussion in person with him is a serve about this being a really bad start and he was lucky it was just admin on his first day, other have done field work on their first day
i dont think he's going to make it

Sounds like someone had a big night.
Doing that the day before starting a new job is the rookie move to end all rookie moves though, based on that he should be given the boot.

FFS, he fails at lying too. Make up something else rather than slept in to 11am.
Keep us updated on his progress.

How do you physically do that. Like there were times in my past where I slept into 11am pretty regularly, it's a choice you make. Your body knows what's happening and once it's light I could wake up at any point and know what was happening.
So strange to be THAT dead to the world that you can get to 11am without having any clue what's happening.

@barbarian yeah, when i was at high school or even uni and you actually had nothing to do on a weekend...i could sleep with the best of them
everyone else ive talked to was the same as me though, i would have been waking every hour or so scared i'd missed my alarm, i do it if i have an early flight

In his 20s that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm wondering if he was in the lockup overnight.

Can't speak for the other GOM in this thread, but personally, I'm fucking envious of his ability to sleep thru to 1100

Wait until get older and it'll be more like 6am.

@Kiwiwomble I was the opposite. I went through my uni years averaging three hours sleep a night. Or so I'm told. They're a bit of a blur ....

@MN5 that is something that plagued me for years, although I do drink alot of fluids.
Didnt matter when I stopped drinking, I'd need to get up 2 or 3 times in the night (this has been the case for as long as I can remember)
But I had always been someone who went for a piss pretty much when I felt I needed one (almost always the first to break the seal when having beers with the boys) a very bad habit to get into.
So changing that habit, and I started taking a prostate supplement with saw palmetto in it, now, I get up once, sometimes not at all.

Yeah a slightly more recent thing for me, I’ve always been a late starter.
As I recall it started last summer on holiday in the bay when I was sleeping in the garage as the house was full of other family. The garden got a few impromptu 2am waterings……
Will look into something like you’ve mentioned because as I get older ( as we all are ) I crave a good nights sleep more than ever.

So much of needing to go for a piss is in yr head. My partner was a bed wetter as a child so she was sent to hypnosis to stop it. Works so well that the moment she even thinks about needing to piss or feels the slightest bladder pressure she has to go. IMMEDIATELY. Then pisses a teaspoon. Fucking annoying
