@Virgil I have only ever watched the first four star wars movies (by order of production). The first three were ok but massively over hyped. The fourth killed it for me. Lucas combined syrupy sappiness with fucking awful plots and characters Jar Jar Ewoks etc. Screaming piles of shit in the main.

Dude you shouldnt be talking about this here, did you not see @taniwharugby's comment just before.
You're gonna get us nerds in so much trouble...

Also "The first three were ok.." ??

    The Accountant 2 is out

So I just watched the original to reacquaint myself with the plot and characters

    So glad I did

    Had forgotten most of it

Cracking watch and puts lots of the movies which followed it - and which were far more lauded - in the shade

Excited to see where the sequel goes

4 Pollocks out of 5 pens to the bollocks

Yeah, I'm in a two night rewatch in prep for watching 2 on Wednesday.

And yep, I'd forgotten most of it outside the action sequences.

The Accountant is excellent. Be interesting how they go about bottling that lightning twice.

    Rust

Obviously had alot of media coverage for the wrong reasons, that I reckon has swayed some peoples view of it.

While it wasnt anything special, it was a decent enough watch.

3 wanted posters out of 5 it was a different world back then

    Thunderbolts

Took the 12 year old to see this, and it was excellent, a lot better than some of the more recent Marvel stuff. I mean it's Marvel, so don't go in there expecting a work of art like Schindler's List, but this was much closer to some of the earlier stuff and was fun from start to finish. Loved Red Guardian, he was great value.

I saw this and liked it, but I don't think it was really any better or worse than recent offerings despite the good press it's getting.

What I think it did have which does elevate it is that it clearly has a purpose in setting up the deck for Secret Wars, which (just in my opinion) made it seem more purposeful than other films.

There's also the fact that it made two forgettable characters JD squad Captain America and Ghost seem less forgettable so that's a positive. I spent hald the movie trying to figure out what movie Bob was originally from before realising he's a newly introduced character.

Watched All Quiet on the Western Front last night. Pretty harrowing at times, did a decent job in capturing the dehumanizing effort of war without having to learn heavily on CGI in the typical American style

    Companion (2025) ⭐ 6.9 | Sci-Fi, Thriller

    Companion (2025) ⭐ 6.9 | Sci-Fi, Thriller

    1h 37m | R

Seen the lead Sophie Thatcher in two things recently, this and Heretic. She's the best in both.

Good story, well executed - pun intended.

The Netflix version? If so, that was very good and better than the John-Boy version. The original (1930) is still the best.

I think visually it's better, but I think the 1930s and John Boy versions captured the themes of the book a lot better. The Netflix one wasn't devoid of substance, but it felt style over substance when watching it.

Yep. If just for the single greatest shot in movie history.

‘Magic Faraway Tree’ Director Ben Gregor Knows He Has an Amazing Cast (Exclusive First-Look Image)

‘Magic Faraway Tree’ Director Ben Gregor Knows He Has an Amazing Cast (Exclusive First-Look Image)

Gregor talks to THR about the ensemble of Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Rebecca Ferguson, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning and Michael Palin, to name a few: "It was like a religious conversion."

My daughter has just gotten into the books, we're on the 3rd run through of the Faraway tree series, surprisingly not a chore to read even on the 3rd go round. Cast is looking solid. Disappointed that its going to be set 'modern day' just hope they do the books justice.

    Anyone watch Warfare?

After 30 minutes the characters were so boring that I hoped they got smoked. Then I turned it off.
