@Crucial Who is making judgement calls in this thread?

Openly wondering if he should be playing rugby at all?

    Certainly heading down that path.

Apologies if that wasn't your intention but that's how it reads to me.

On paper, these two teams are very evenly matched. Young coaching tyros Razor and Rangi up against the old dogs Rennie and Keane.

Should be pretty exciting, though recent history suggests the Chiefs will edge it.

Be good to see recent history broken! 🙂

    @Crucial

It was clearly not a rhetorical question. If I meant to suggest he should stop playing, I would have said so. Some people (definitely me) can just genuinely ask a question.

@Chris-B. The Crusaders are favourites of course as their record suggests. :😉

Mike Fraser is the ref in an all-NZ crew.

@Bovidae Home game for the Chiefs and the Crusaders still ravaged by injuries? ...The only thing that gives me a slight amount of hope is that Hometown Jacko isn't reffing.

Mind you, Mike Fraser, born in New Plymouth...that's nearly as good as getting Jacko! 🙂

@ACT-Crusader At full strength, we'd thrash them.

Mind you - at full strength we'd have half of their players! 🙂

Saders are favourites all day long. Chiefs and the Canes are playing from the same book this year - messy, dumb, lots of mistakes, individual brilliance getting them through.

Should be a fun game though. Hoping Cruds comes through OK as he may be important in the Lions series.

@No-Quarter I don't know. The Chiefs have a tight five that can hold their own against the Crusaders imo, unlike the Canes' front five.

The Chiefs also have had the wood over the Crusaders in recent times so it will be interesting to see if the Crusaders can overcome any doubts that may exist.

    It will be tight.

@akan004 the Chiefs almost lost to the Sunwolves, at home. That's beyond embarrassing, I'm not convinced their tight 5 is that much better TBH - will be interesting to see how they go.

If the Saders can back up the forward performance from last week* then they should win pretty comfortably. But Cane and BBBT alone make that a much tougher ask.

Still, the Crusaders look to be going from strength to strength. Bastards.

*Still smarting over the reaming in the forwards last week. Was rather traumatizing.

It was pretty tough watching us lose lineout after lineout and scrum after scrum. Razor has them humming as a pack, they're really feeding off each other. Canes and Chiefs often look very disjointed by comparison.

Granted they have been poor recently. On paper though, they are strong. Bird, BBBR, Hames, Harris and Laulala are not bad.

Our backs were superb defensively last week. However in attack they didn't finish off some of the good breaks made. Chiefs backs are very good and Lowe usually pulls out a big game against us. We'll have to defend just as hard as last week.

I actually like Hall starting against the Chiefs.

@akan004 Exactly. On paper the Chiefs tight five rolling out this week is next level compared to what the Canes rolled out last week.

Still think Boshier deserves a shot at 7 - move Cane to 6, with Leitch at 8
