@dmx yeah you've gotta be bloody happy with the front row stocks. Interesting that Aumua saw sfa time but you've got to think they're setting him up to replace Harris next year. Be interesting to see what happens with Crockett.

I'd love to see the back of Crockett, and Aumua being introduced slowly is probably a good thing, thats a while for any tight 5 to really reach their peak, but I'd still prefer to see him as the sub over Harris.

@pakman I can empathise. Most intense pain I've ever experienced (apart from 6 October 2007 in Cardiff) was a trapped nerve in my neck. Physio recommenced McKenzie exercises which got the pain down from 11 to 4 in a week or so.

Still took a good 6-9 months before I was back to reasonably normal though,

@kirwan Exactly. He's no Charlie in terms of ball carrying but Ofa's had a pretty decent season in black and his scrummaging continues to improve. Suprised people keep bringing up the subject as to why he keeps getting picked.

The highlight for me was calling for another scrum when our senior lock was off the field and we’d just won a penalty from the previous 7 v 8 scrum, and scoring off it. That’s got to mess with the opposition’s heads. Old Aura must be on 250+ caps by now.

Was that the bit where the camera cut to Hansen and he was just shaking his head and looking down?

@milk Honestly can't recall mate. I remember wondering though who made that call to take that second scrum. I'm assuming it was BB, as he seemed to be acting captain. Considering he probably knows less than bugger all about scrumming it was an absolute statement of faith in the undermanned pack and a very, very ballsy demonstration of intent to the Welsh.

Reason #57 why Backs should never be Captain!

Mate, give the player of the year some credit. The guy plays chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

For some reason I thought it would be @booboo who upvoted that.

Probably just hasn't got here yet...

Strangely I don't have too much objection to backs being Captain.

As long as they make their tackles, don't shirk the tough stuff and don't chip kick.

Oh and they have to scrum well, be useful in the lineout whether jumping, lifting and blocking or throwing and sweeping in the 5m. Have good body position in a maul, smash into every breakdown and ruck to clear bodies. And know that primping and boofing one's hair just makes you less attractive than the rugged good looks resulting from the knocks and scars inherent from close quarter battles.

And accept they are less intelligent due to brain freeze fron standing in the middle of nowhere getting hypothermia while the real rugby players sort things out and don't have to wear pantyhose to avoid hypothermia.

Apart from that no objection whatsoever.

... oh and I keep looking at someone quoting @hooroo when I'm not wearing my glasses and thinking "I didn't say that ...". Too many oo oo s. Looks like @booboo. Great minds and all that 🙂

@stargazer It seems Read is suffering from sciatica. With luck, rest and right exercises will ease disc back into place: fingers crossed!

Sciatica killed my "career". Took 18 months 2 steroid injections and lots of physio to get right.

Prolapsed disc L5S1. Caused by dopey fucking prop who wouldn't bend down properly, exacerbated by trying to deadlift too much.

No doubt knowledge and treatment has improved in 20 years. But it wasn't straightforward.

    How much is "too much"?

Speaking of deadlifting, Justin Tipuric must have the least impressive physique of any international rugby player.
