Both our kids were big feckers (#2 was over 10pd) #1 was a nightmare to feed was bottle fed from fairly early on , our midwife was sweet about it, but my wife had epidural headaches and best thing that helped them was caffeine which ain't great to feed a newborn. 2nd breastfed sweet as weaned herself off about 9 months...mind you all round #2 was so much easier!
You've summed up the generalisation about kids right there. In the early years, boys are difficult, girls are easy. In the later years it's the other way round. Now I know we can all point to examples where this is not so, but the reality is every time you turn your back the little boy has put a bucket on his head and is running into a brick wall. The girl is as calm as until about age 13 or 14 then becomes a hormonal hyper-bitch.
Yes kids are the best contraceptive.

I have two boys. They are flat out. My mates with girls just look on in wonder. Wait 'till they're teenagers fuckers

There was a point early on with #2 where i looked at mrs mariner and said "i never want to have sex again, because that's where kids come from"
I got over it

Good. No-one likes a quitter.

@mariner4life My sister has three girls and a boy. Boy is 10mths old and already rocketing around the floor with a fast belly shuffle. Also has a head butt you have to watch out for. Girls are 8, 7, and 5. I'm not sure there is going to be enough popcorn in the world for the upcoming years. Heh heh. (This is such delightful karma I can't even.)
-
@catogrande Miss TR at 9 is already doing my head in with moods and attitude, so looking forward to her teen years...
TR Jnr, when not giving in to his sisters antagonizing, is turning into a great kid.
With babies, you just do what you gotta do, formula, breast feed, go for a walk and leave them at home screaming...no matter what anyone tells you, you are never really prepared for how tough those first months are!
It's also about creating habits early too, with feeding, playing, sleeping
-
@taniwharugby Yep. And being tough with boundaries really early on. No good comes from kid ruling the roost, and it only gets worse as they get older.
-
@mokey we were always big on making sure kids were in bed at a set time every night (my kids still go to bed at 7, but read or whatever - no electronics - until 8 ) so even if they only slept for 2 hours or so before needing feeding or whatever, it gave us some time to ourselves and that is hugely important.

If you're a fat fluffybunny passing through Palmy and need a shit sounds like it might be best to hold on or defecate out on the street.....
I think my favourite line is this one....
'They were embarrassed national and international teamsĀ coming in January to compete to qualify for the world championships in Wellington would take away a poor impression of the city, based on the loos'
I don't think the most spacious, fresh smelling, pristine toilet on earth could possibly come close to creating a decent impression of Palmy.

The irony of having Hardman as a surname and being such a pussy.

I hope Terry Klein realises these loo photos are now the first results that show up when he Google Image Searches for ""Terry Klein" Palmerston North" . . .

6 months ago I was exactly the above. I held on to dannevirke. My own moral victory.

The shitters in the virke play music from memory. Is this still the case?
-
@majorrage said in Alternative needed from the absolute crap of stuff.co.nz:
@mn5 I covered 6000kms in less than 2 months in NZ. I don't apologise for not remembering much about the shitters in the 'virke.
On the contrary, I had to go there for a funeral and it was far and away the highlight of the trip.

Palmerston Norths new motto ā not worth shitting onā.
Catchy . -
hhmmm, not awesome, but people need to read this as a warning!
Warning: there are some incredibly stupid people out there!
-
@taniwharugby Now why is it that this report is on Stuff but I've seen nothing of it here in the UK? Hats off to the Stuff journos, boldly going...
-
@catogrande we have no news of our own!
