For want of a better place (and I did see it on the internet)
For anyone in the Auckland area this weekend the Warbirds Spitfire is going for a spin at around 10 and 11.30 on Sunday morning
Could be worth an outing with the kids (as an excuse) and a visit to the hanger after to check out the other hardware. -
While on the topic of aviation, I have never seen this cool photo before.
When the RNZAF took delivery of it's Skyhawks in 1970 they arrived on a US Aircraft carrier and were towed through Auckland to Whenuapai
The shot above was on Hobsonville Rd

Stefan Bellof once lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Porsche 956 in 6 minutes, 11.13 seconds, a record that stood since 1983.
Porsche took their Le Mans winning 919, removed the restrictions, shed some weight and subsequently did a lap in 5 minutes, 19.546 seconds.
That's an average speed increase of 15% over the fastest previous.
