<p>Any of the published EU stuff had to have storylines approved by Lucas. He has always maintained though, that there are two 'truths'. The Films and the books.</p>

<p>I doubt any of the post ROTJ novels stuff will come through in VII. Being set 30 years down the track would need far too much explanation of what happened in the years inbetween otherwise.</p> -

<p>Just a rumour because he had dinner with JJ (who he's worked with before). I doubt he would be recognisable if he did do a cameo, it would just take the audience out of the film too much.</p>

<p>Cruise the actor is pretty good, and does sci fi well. Would have no problem him playing an imperial commander or something.</p> -

<p>But yeah, interested to see how things pan out. The EU stuff has to be approved by Lucas and in that I believe Luke does in fact turn to the dark side. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher both look like hammered shit but Harrison has aged pretty well and Chewie, threepio and R2 will be hidden in suits. Problem solved.</p>

<p>I'm going through a cool phase of watching the first six with MN5 jrs ( 4 and 6 ) and warding off all sorts of questions. I think the most vexing is when Obi Wan says to Luke ( in ep 4 ) that "your father wanted you to have this".....I may have missed it but in between dismembering him and leaving him to burn I don't recall Obi Wan saying "Oh by the way Annie, your sabre still works fine, want me to give it to your unborn kid?" "Yeah good idea, the sabre had cauterized my wounds but I'm still burning up, have you got any aloe vera?"</p>

<p>They're also disappointed that Obi Wan and Yodes didn't have another crack at the Emperor instead of fucking off to bumfuck shit hole planets ( Dagobah, seriously ???? )</p>

<p>I'd really love to see some compelling bad guys ( Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Grievious and Jango Fett were awesome additions, lets hope for more ) equally compelling good guys ( Annie and Luke were both fucken whiny for such powerful beings ) cool ground battles to rival the Hoth battle ( but NOT cutesy Ewok battles ) and well.....I wanna see a movie I can get fucken excited about and take the boys to. A bit of pressure on Disney, hope then can do it.....</p> -

<p>Have seen quotes from Lucas that he thought Luke turning to the dark side was a stupid idea. The whole EU stuff is just a money spinner, one step away from fan fiction. The best thing about the new films is this stuff is relegated to alternate history.</p>

<p>There was some good stuff in the EU. Stuff that tied in really well. I used to read a bit of it but lost interest toward the NJO stuff as IMO it started to get silly and off track. there was also a lot of revisiting eras already well covered for the sake of it.</p>

<p>The General Thrawn stuff, Mara Jade and the X-Wing Squadron books are pretty good.</p> -
<p>Yeah a Boba Fett movie in particular would be cool. Seeing him for the first time was awesome, for some reason he just seemed so cool, Lucas himself admitted he'd have more screen time if he had his time again. I personally reckon him surviving the Sarlacc ( which apparently he did anyway ) and having a crack at Han again on Endor woulda been cool. After all his old man knew how to look after himself, no disgrace getting decapitated by one of the most powerful jedi ever....would also give Tem some much needed work too !</p>

<p>Agree that Obi Wan did spin a bit of bullshit to Luke now I think about it. There's still a few annoying things that don't add up, I mean Dooku was a smart cookie, he MUST have known the Emp was lining up Annie as a replacement. There's only so much of that "dark side clouds everything" bullshit you can spin....</p>

<p>I'm also a bit upset that Lando doesn't seen to feature. Watch the space batte in episode 6 again, his efforts in that were sensational.</p> -
