Apart from the runs, the leadership, the holding together of our batting order in tough conditions, and the occasional spin bowling, what's Williamson ever done for us!

Hes been pretty handy in the gully.

if I could bring chat back to the present day looks like Will Young is debuting tomorrow ahead of the GOAT who is injured. Will it be straight swap or will everyone move up a place ?

Makes sense for a teams best batsmen to be 3 and 4 and logic dictates Nicholls shifts to 4 when Rossco retires ( Shit, there's a bit of dust in the room ) but I guess some of the very best batsmen bucked the trend and batted low ( Viv Richards and Steve Waugh being obvious examples )

He's made a great contribution to non-manicured beards.

Big pressure on Will Young - weak opposition so everyone expects him to hit a 100 and this could be the only chance he gets for a while.

Maybe this test won't go ahead after the Mosque shooting?

I suspect it will be delayed for a day at least. If there are multiple fatalities I could agree with cancelling the test. Apparently the team were at the mosque just before the shooting.

There's merit in a "You will not disrupt our lives with your terrorism " message.

Up to the Bangladeshi team ultimately though I guess

Yeah, reflecting on when similar things have happened to the Black Caps, I would completely understand if the Bangladesh players want to go home after this, and equally if they want to play then we should.

A delay might be required/requested by authorities for logistical reasons as well? Not sure how big a role police and other emergency services play in the staging of a test match.

Probably not. Just chatting with a mate that the Warriors' opener might be delayed due to the venue having to increase security (we doubt it - no terrorist would be stupid to take on a stadium full of West and South Aucklanders).

Test cancelled and they are flying home. Terrible experience for them.

One thing NZ cricket does well (now) is be decisive. Zimbabwe in the SA world cup; Sri Lanka in the indian world cup; bombings near the hotel - and now this.

Right answer, although I'm gutted there's no test cricket on this weekend. Only took 3 1/2 hours from nutters starting, to calling it. Well done NZC

Didn't find out about this until I saw this post and thought "a mosque shooting in Bangladesh?" I found out 9/11 on a Notts County forum in the morning following the action of cup game we were playing. There was a guy posting from New York and somehow said "so glad you're OK". Probably says a lot about me and my priorities of staying updated with events ....
