Owens would be the least worst option

Arguably the best ref I've seen for years

Nigel Owens is the best ref in the world at the moment by far. He should do the final unless Wales are involved.

I'm worried about Barnes and the Frenchmen....

I see the BOP ref that played for the Chiefs (Name escapes me, but we call him 'Hometown') is considering a career change due to not making the squad.

You must wonder about your career prospects when you see four Frenchies ahead of you.

Basically WR have signalled they really want this RWC to be a lottery.

Seriuosly how did France get four refs - dont think their standard of reffing is that great, and to give them four ffs.

Meanwhile Hometown misses out. I know, he's not that good but that means we don't have our ranked ref there. What gives?

"NZ Rugby national referee manager Bryce Lawrence was disappointed Jackson, who he said has controlled close to 500 first-class games, had been overlooked.

"We are really disappointed for Glen personally. They (World Rugby) have just decided to take younger referees to this year's World Cup. The way I am reading between the lines is that Jacko has missed out to a couple of younger guys - not only from New Zealand but other countries as well."

Jeez cos we saw how well a young Wabne Barnes did under the stress spotlight did in 07!

@canefan more so when you consider the age of those useless French fucks...hometown is the perfect ref for Japan, to ref Japan.

I guess at least with Pickerell in Japan, we wont have to put up with him at M10 Cup...although with our 'top refs' largely out of action for M10 Cup, will be a new breed of refs to come through...

ffs Hometown thinks its some sort of service award?

I'm sure he does, it's the IRB referee panel.

The French refs are worshiped by the influential UK media.

Although not as much as Barnes.

If we are in the final and playing anyone else other than the Boks, I’d happily have Jaco ref the test.

Not going to happen if there is a NH team involved.

*well at least not without a load of bullshit from Stephen Jones anyway

I am delighted Brendon Pickerill has been appointed to the touch judging panel. The SANZAR Referees Appointments Manager must surely now be obilged to appoint him soley as a touch judge for Super Rugby matches to give him the best possible preparation for his role in Japan. Co-incidently it will also save us from having to witness any further displays with the whistle under his control.

Owens and Jaco are by far my favourite refs. Nobody will ever get everything right in such a dynamic game both those two are really a cut above IMO.

Poite and Garces are the two most ridiculous refs to ever referee at the top level.
