Stupid complaints about players get called out, no reason it shouldn’t here either.

Define stupid. I don't think the criticisms levelled at GOT on this thread have been stupid. They're no more stupid than when players get panned for a poor performance.

I dunno, complaints about lack of realism in a show with dragons and magic?

Has anyone actually done that? If something is unrealistic in relation to the world that has been created or flies completely in the face of what has previously been possible isn't it acceptable to criticise that? Just because something is fantasy doesn't mean it can't be poorly written or have massive inconsistencies and plot holes. All of these things are valid grounds for criticism.

As someone who doesn't like the books (more accurately, I didn't like the one I read), and really enjoyed the first 3 seasons for the political intrigue, but have never felt it was a top tier show personally, I haven't been getting as up in arms as some out there.

Don't get me wrong, I think they could have done some things better (especially writing better battlefield tactics etc), but I don't think it's as bad as the teeth gnashing is some quarters. I do think the big error they made was the short series of long episodes. If this had played out over 10 one hour episodes I think even with similar screen time Euron would have been more of a 'character' and the Mad Queen going mad wouldn't have felt so abrupt to some people.

Some of the memes have been great, a couple of friends and I share them in an iMessage thread - but I guess that's curated, so it doesn't get annoying to me.

Anyway, GoT has been a great show, doesn't threaten my top 10 but I've enjoyed watching it.

Who's everyones favourite bad guy ? who died in the most satisfying way ( so far )

Greyjoy and Joffrey aren't a patch on Ramsay in my opinion.

Walder Frey getting a very close shave from Arya is up there for me.

I think Season 7 had my biggest "Yeah Right" moment. Anyone remember when Jaime is charging at Dany and the Dragon on horseback and Bron come in last minute and knocks him off and they both start sinking in the lake. Fast forward to the next scene and they have swam a kilometre under water with armor and Jamies gold hand. Umm yeah ok.

Due to the existence of the Dragon, I'm unsure whether you're allowed to be annoyed by that.

Another one was Stannis' army being completely overwhelmed but he somehow teleports into the forest and Brianne appears out of nowhere to cut his head off. But again, Dragon, magic, walking dead etc. so just stupid to complain.

So it’s all about ā€œplotters and panthersā€ apparently....

Why the Writing in Season 8 of 'Game of Thrones' Feels Off

It all comes down to the machinations of two very different types of writers.

Makes good points. We’ve seen this before in series, where the final season(s) is disappointing due to overly convenient plot devices to position everything for the final ep.

Why is the 3rd eye socially awkward raven not even a thing now?

What was the point of Bronn in this season? Was it to show he and Cersei could be in a scene together now? Because it felt a whole lot like Michael in the last Ep of the Office. Why f*cken bother?!

If Cersei is dead the writers of this show need to be castrated.....how can the evilest bitch and in most peoples opinion, biggest villain, get a sad death next to her brother/lover. All this did was, attempt to normalise incest yet again and rob us all of what should have been an enjoyable(lets be honest), gruesome and horrible death.

What was the point of punishing Arya in the streets of Kings Landing? Is that a set up to take all of the murdering out of her so she can go find her "Kings Bastard" and live happily ever after? Instead of being noone?

They have f*cked up this show and Im never watching it again.....after this next episode.

I'm with you bro, I'm washing my hands of this series then too!

Apparently they have started filming a prequel 'Bloodmoon' and cos that is set before this season, it should be good, right? I'll definitely, probably watch it.

    Yeah.

You can also be a bit more brutal and say that Martin is a highly skilled story-teller and B&B simply aren't in the same class - and also that Martin has spent years crafting each book, where these guys have spent a few months sketching an outline (in fact, they've doubtless had thousands of calls on their time, so maybe the script largely got drafted from 9 pm to midnight).

They're not really too much worse than Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings - spending too much money on CGI and not enough on script.

Not bad guys but the deaths that really got me excited about the show, in a "fuck this is brutal as fuck and anything can happen are" kind of way are:

    • Ned Stark. He was the ultimate good guy. Noble, honor-bound, always doing what is right... beheaded in the town square in front of a feral crowd at the command of a psychopath! Daaaammmnnn that was intense.
    • The Red Wedding. Got all invested in the young King of the North fucking shit up with masterful tactics and then.. BAM betrayal and they all get slaughtered. Just awesome.

It's been a hell of a series overall. Sad that it's coming to an end, I hope it goes out on a high.

@No-Quarter They certainly stood out for me in the books, but it was so long ago! Basically the only death on the series that has really got me is Hodor's, that was a real GRR moment. Villains, so has to be post book to effect me, I'd say the High Sparrow, I really enjoyed the Sept going up in flames episode piece, music helped a lot, and then The Dipshit King jumping!

@Rancid-Schnitzel and the TV series, the wildling girl mentions it specifically, thankfully I can't remember if it was shown on screen in its full giants blood glory!
