Chiefs skipper Sam Cane has confirmed today that he will start at openside flanker for the Waikato franchise in their Super Rugby match against the Reds tomorrow at FMG Stadium in Hamilton.

Cane was named yesterday to initially start at blindside flanker.

"I wouldn't read too much into the six-seven thing, to be fair it is probably just the way the team got announced," said Cane.

"As soon the team came out me and Lockie [Lachlan Boshier] talked and Neil Barnes [Chiefs assistant coach] came over [and said] - 'I don't care which jerseys you wear, you sort it out.'

    "I'll probably wear seven tomorrow."

@Stargazer Good to not see Glen Jackson on that list. Gardner has arguably been one of the more consistent refs in the past few years.

How the hell is that a knock on? That's ridiculous. I take back what I said about Gardner.

Initially, I thought it was a try, but the last shot of the replay clearly showed that it was a knock-on.

That one not so flash. In full speed he clearly grounded the ball no worries but in superslow motion there might, just might, have been a microscopic disconnection for about a one thousandth of a second.

At real time speed completely disagree.

I've seen enough to recognize that the cheeky $20 I put on the Reds I won't see again.

@KiwiMurph True, but that probably applies to the disallowed try of the Reds as well.

Nah, one was a clear penalty (like Canes one last week should have been), the other was just a poor decision from super slow mo.

Good to see Cane still tackling hard and putting his head in dark places. Not playing gingerly at all
