So his claim against ARU is $10,000,000 right? He reckons he will need $3,000,000 to fight it...what are the chances it ends up settling for less than $3,000,000...

I'm sure he'll give whatever he makes back to those who donated money snort chortle.
This is a bit like the Iran-Iraq war. Both sides are fluffybunnies.

@Rembrandt transitioning children is one of the more disturbing things to come out of the radical left in recent times. That's going to backfire badly in 10 - 15 years time, with 100s (hopefully not 1000s) of kids lives ruined.
This whole let your kids decide what they are BS is just that. I don't disagree that there kids who are legitimately trans gender. But it is becoming a fashion thing amongst the nutty entertainment set and consequently flows down.
Yeah, and it's impossible to tell if a kid is actually transgender. Studies show that between 60% and 90% of all kids that experienced gender dysphoria as a child grew out of it. So to be transitioning young confused kids with life-changing treatment (not to mention f'ing them up mentally) is an extraordinarily bad idea.
I'm not questioning what you've said, but that's a remarkably large range!
Yeah there hasn't been that many studies done, if you try to do one today you get harassed by the trans activists who are a particularly nasty breed of activist. Most found around 90% but one had 60% so have to include that one as well. Regardless it is the majority, meaning we should really stop mucking around with kids.

Certainly an interesting development. Could a case like this really cost $3m? I have zero idea on how costs stack up in things like this.
Aside from questions on the amount I have no issues with him doing this. He has earned his money and is standing on a principle that many share and would be happy to support him on. I guess the real test of character is if he wins and gets paid out court costs would he refund patrons? Is refunding even possible on go fund me?
Also how long before go fund me then get pressured to remove his account?

@Hooroo That's how most religions get their obscene wealth right? Prey on the vulnerable. So he's on brand there.
I'm sure Briam Tamaki is taking notes.
Taking notes? He wrote his own book!

That's what I was thinking. GoFundMe takes a sizeable commission and they'll cop a pasting for this. But considering the multitude of batshit crazy things they've allowed to be funded on their platform it would be he insanely hypocritical for them to remove his account. On the other hand it's not like that's ever been an issue with tech companies...
The thing is, nobody in Australia has freedom of speech. And that certainly applies to everyone with an employment contract and even more so when you are the public face of an organisation. You just can't say what's on your mind, regardless of how much you believe in it. Foonhow must have known that. But if he wins the case....The ramifications would be enormous.

I don't have a problem with him doing this, he's within his rights to seek donations for whatever he wants.
But I'm also within my rights to call him a selfish, greedy, money-grabbing dickhead. He's a multi-millionaire, and instead of asking people to donate to the millions of worthy causes in the world, he's asking us to bankroll a legal defence he should be able to easily afford.
I can also criticise him on a fundamental religious level too, because to me is at odds with the general vibe of the New Testament.

Given that all us rugby "stakeholders " have already made up our minds on this issue which has nothing to do with catching, passing and tackling, the end result will just be "meh", ( and in 2 years be an obsolete reference)
It's just another win for high fee charging lawyers. Games the rich people play
That's all it is
-
@Stargazer he should have added if you are a sinner, please do not donate as I dont want YOUR money.
-
@barbarian Is he a multi-millionaire?
I know he signed a big contract but that's what they are tearing up. I'm sure he is in a better position than most people but without the current contract and being ostracized internationally he may not be in a position to work again. -
@Rembrandt His deal with the GWS Giants in the AFL was worth $4.2m. Now he only stayed for half of that, but then he signed a deal with rugby worth an estimated $1m per season (in 2014). And he was undoubtedly on good coin with the NRL before he even went to AFL.
That doesn't include endorsement deals, of which he has had plenty.
Unless he's got a secret gambling/drug habit we don't know about, he is definitely a multi-millionaire.
-
@barbarian what a joke!
-
@barbarian Fair enough. I guess it comes down to what lifestyle he leads (humble church man...) or maybe if his church is one of those ones that take in money from its flock. I'm sure there will be a few people whispering things in his ear.

It's nice to see Folau's GoFundMe in it's rightful position at the top of the GoFundMe charts.
I bet these other three losers couldn't catch a high ball to save their lives.
