You think after Dr Who turned to a giant steaming turd after they gave the job to a sjw chick and the stories were preachy garbage they would have thought twice about this.
Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker did a magnificent job even when the scripts and special FX were utter shite.
The snippets I've seen of Dr Who from the 80s onwards look pretty dire. I'm amazed it's still going.

The Billy Piper era was actually decent , the cgi was done by the same people that did postman pat. The last two doctors have been utterly shit .![alt text](image url)

@MN5 If your day wasn't going badly enough https://nypost.com/2019/07/14/lashana-lynch-cast-as-007-in-new-james-bond-movie-report/
This would never happen to Bourne.
Good way to ruin another franchise.
If you click on the link it's not quite as bad as the headline makes out.
We must be inferring different things then.
But they are "Bond" movies....not "007" movies. They're also steadily declining in quality too if you ask me as inevitably happens. Could be a good chance to abandon the franchise.
The reboot declined in quality but is still light years ahead of some of the campy 70s and 80s crap they threw out.
I'm perfectly happy for a kick arse female British spy movie to be made, but Bond and 007 exist in a narrow character area - the number belongs to him alone.

I don't see who this is supposed to appeal to. Younger viewers who don't have any idea who Bond is anyway? It's so bizarre. Why this desperate need to take existing characters and turn them into women? Why not develop new characters? Just a thought....
Imagine the furore if Shaft was changed to a gay white dude or Charlie's Angels became 3 guys? But why would you want to change them in the first place?

Come on mate, I'm sure it will be good. Just look at how the rebooted Ghostbusters turned out, oh wait....

Moore was campy at times no denying it but he still made some of the best films in my opinion.
Compare the brilliant ‘For your eyes only’ with ‘Diamonds are forever’ for example. The latter had gay hit men and Blofeld in drag for fucks sake and Connery looked fat, bored and wore a pink tie.

@jegga yep, it's like how so many Fantasy writers were inspired to write Fantasy by Tolkein, but didnt mean they tried to write about Sally Baggins in Leftie-Earth.
They created thier own characters and worlds with many similarities, but still different.
Rather than market as a re-boot, just let it be it's own movie and let people just go 'oh thats pretty much just Bond with a chick'

Anyway, Spiderman is still a dude in Far from Home. Bit meh but ok entertainment and the boys were happy. Just on that blip thing, wasn't it a bit rude of Stark to allow that to happen? Couldn't he have prevented the entire thing? That whole time travel thing is a dog's breakfast.
Saw a couple movies on the weekend actually:
Under Siege. Imho easily the best of those one man kills multiple baddies films. Siegel never came near this level again. Perfection and Erika Eleniak just makes it even better.
Bevis and Butthead do America. Absolutely hilarious. Great little film. "He he he, he said extend".

I noticed they have rebooted magnum PI. Magnum is this Hispanic guy and Higgins is a woman. Tosh
A couple of years ago now I think. I saw the trailer back then and threw up. What a fucken catastrophe.

It’s been ages since I whinged about Star Wars introducing two of the all time shittest characters who happened to be women. Might as well do so on here. At least one of them died and signs are positive the other might do a Jar Jar ( ie barely appear in the next flick )

Yes that range of TLJ action figures was awesome. Those Holdo, Rose and Locksmith Tool toys just disappeared off the shelves. We're so unlucky to have missed that bonanza of awesomeness when we were kids. Boba Fett has nothing on Rose.
Damn you. I was just starting to forget.

Ha, shopping with the boys and the amount of Rose action figures on the shelf was hilariously pathetic. I shoulda taken a photo and made a meme.
My boys play one of those lego racing star wars type games on TV and oldest son picks Rose as his character just to piss me off.
Little fluffybunny.

Die Hard 2
Still my favourite of the John McClane movies. Perhaps starting to stretch the line a bit in terms of reality, but a well paced, well plotted movie.
4.5 yipppe kai yays out of 5 motherf***ers ..
(loses 0.5 for the windsor plane crash scene which is just shit)
