@mariner4life so when we scrape past SA in the opening match?
a pox on you sir
I do hope the Boks and AB's play each other twice this RWC. First game, and last game.
Anyone got the stats on how many times teams in the same pool have gone on to play each other in the knock out/final. 2011 ABs and France. Any others?
SA v England 2007
Edit: Beaten to the punch.

I remember watching the pool game, and never thought we'd see England in final after spanking they took.

@Catogrande not only some turnaround, but damn near won the comp. Puts all the firm and planning into perspective.
SA had Fiji and Argentina I think in knock outs leading up to the final. I'd take that run any day of the week

The pool game was England without Wilkinson and the final was with him wasn't it? I didn't watch it , in fact I don't think there was a rwc in 2007

What are you whinging about Me and a French mate had tickets to the final. We still went, despite flirting with the idea of selling the tickets on.
I reckon England would have won that game if the try had been given.

Thatβs a hell of a rwc run , 95,99,03,07 and a win in 03 after being Jonahβs speed bump in 95

Only one of a handful of countries with rugby as the national sport - although Namibia seems to be the only one that has declared it in law (along with football and netball).

I think our biggest problem (apart from some whimsical coaching) was at scrum-half, where we were tinkering with Peter Richards (who?) and Shaun Perry (even louder WHO?), before falling back on veteran And Gommarsall who steadied the ship and should have been there all along.
By fuck we've had some downright weird selections across the years. Selections that every man and his retarded dog know are just plain wrong but still get made only to fail.

Then there were some brilliant selections, the ultimate was in 2007

Some all it passion. I call it one-eyed, need to move on from the past, blinkered bullshit.
I'm hardly a Disney employee myself, but I can't think of a more miserable bunch of people than the Welsh ...

Wrong to stereotype, but I was on a train back from Cardiff quite a few years ago when Wales had beaten Ireland in the Six Nations decider and also grabbed a Grand Slam. There was a particularly obnoxious (drunken) Welsh fella who was desperately rubbing salt in the wounds. Train packed with Irish and they simply refused to be riled. I remember one, who was a big lad, saying in response to the little Welsh git, 'No need for that, just enjoy your day in the sun'.
And after the Dublin upset last November the locals simply refused to let me buy a drink (much Guinness). There's certainly a 'type' of Irish fans who are great blokes.

They sounds like a bunch of piston wristed gibbons not even selling you drinks just because you're a kiwi.
-
My experience is that most rugby fans you meet, whatever nationality, seem to be pretty good people on the whole. The thing is now that it is getting more difficult to separate these good blokes from all the online warriors.

Or a bunch of VERY generous winners. Saw SGH in Lansdowne Club late in evening and he'd certainly been the recipient of similar.

I just hope the winner doesn't do it courtesy of a blatantly dodgy referee or TMO decision, or some obscure rule
I'm still not over the CWC (will I ever be?) I don't think I could handle something similar for the RWC!
