    Hunter Killer

Quite possibly Gerard Butler's worst movie. Obviously that's a bold statement. Imagine Hunt for Red October written by the fight choreographer for Rocky.

    Yeah, that shit.

So that was written seven minutes in, I'm now 23 minutes in with 97 minutes remaining and it's unfathomably getting worse.

I'm imagining Mel Brooks wrote a Space Balls type pisstake of submarine movies. And the storyboard was in crayon with the actors the same size as the submarine.

Halfway through. It continues its exponential decline. It has a female Jack Ryan character interrupting a briefing with the President. I hope Gary Oldman needed the money.

I've still got a good 40mins to go tonight but thought I'd venture onto the internets and see what other people thought. Obviously Daniel Armua and I wouldn't get along. That or he's mastered sarcasm:

Hunt for Red October or Das Boot fans, hang on to your helmets!

It has been a long time indeed since we the viewers were rewarded with a truly engaging, intense, suspenseful and emotionally satisfying naval thriller. Hunter Killer hits all those queues and then some.

The major strength to this film is it's diversity and realism, perhaps not in the CGI category but where it counts, in the compelling performances and the understanding of special ops, covert procedures.

In case you're wondering.; it gets worse. That would be the sole achievement of the movie. I recommend you all watch it. Don't just take my word for it.

    Whitney.

The 2018 documentary. Probably one of the saddest things I've seen. I always knew she was a great singer, with huge popularity. I never knew she was such a phenomenal talent.

The story of her life, and her is a real eye opener. People (friends, family) took the piss out of her, her entire life. Yes, she had her own demons and wasn't close to perfect, but some of the earlier footage, compared to some of the last (her 2009 tour footage is unbelievable) shows just what a downward spiral she was on.

It certainly does make you ask how much Bobby was the bad guy too ... And in places, also exposes how wide the black / white divide in the US really was/is. Some of the comments around The Bodyguard really surprised me.

    Really eye opening great watching

4 Hollywood lives out of 5 Hollywood fuck ups.

@jegga It's remarkable how good that was - a broad concept spoof like that could easily have been awful. They even used the villian's costume in a later Star Trek series.

@Tim David Mamet says there are only four great films , Galaxy Quest is one of them . The doco is great, they got really lucky from the cast actually all getting along to their studio forgetting they were filming the movie because they were also doing Gladiator which had a huge budget, was filmed in Malta and Oliver reed died on set and because that took up all their attention that left the Galaxy quest crew a lot of freedom.

I’ve always thought what made it even more remarkable was the heart; this was a spoof that had sensitive human moments in it where you actually cared about the fate of the characters.

That’s one of the big points of the doco , when Tim Allen has to tell the dying alien he’s an actor. I won’t spoil it but it’s pretty awesome

I’d mentioned earlier I was originally dragged to see the film, mostly reluctant because the star was Tim Allen, and I wasn’t a fan. But from the moment he’s nursing a hangover in the back of the limo, I was on board for the ride, and I’ve been a fan of his ever since simply on the strength of the movie, where I thought he was pitch-perfect and the equal of some tremendously gifted actors In that cast.
