Fraud Spam Calls To Mobile

I realise there are bigger issues in the world right now but for the love of god can someone please explain why Telstra or whoever runs the mobile network in Australia cannot stop fucken spam calls from China and India. They show up as local numbers on your phone and they leave bizarre ranting messages in a foreign language. I don't answer calls from unknown numbers but its bloody annoying.
Surely it is not that hard to stop a call originating from overseas from showing as a local number.

Yeah I got them often too so guess my number is on some list. Sometimes I will have a bit of a chat and play along, especially with the random investment advisor ones.
Also get a lot the odd random half rings to the mobile that I am never quick enough to answer and they seem to be from places like Albania! The number doesnt work though if you try call it back.

I used to be inundated though after each call I would add their number to my 'blocked' list. Either they have run out of numbers or the group that had my number has been shutdown because I haven't had a call in months.
If in Oz you can put your number on here to stop the legitimate spammers.

The trick in the UK was dialling you from an overseas 'pay per minute' number via a proxy. The pricks would set up that when you answered you were connected to the dodgy £20 per minute line. Luckily easy to spot as the call usually came from somewhere like Morocco or Libya. You just don't answer them.

I get Auckland number calls and they turn out to be an automated Asian woman talking about the ANZ bank. I've blacklisted a heap, but fark they are annoying.
.. a lot of ferners are from Auckland... just saying

I use hiya on Android. After a few rings it pops up saying scam.
