Lockdown/Covid Check In

Mrs CF has a hankering for fresh baked buns and maybe some hot cross buns. As our local NW doesn't have it's own bakery it will fall to me to put my body on the line and venture out. I'm not too fussed, I just don't like to queue. Fortunately we have lots of different options close by

Went for a run instead. Took the dog, who tried to trip me up every 50m. Not a success.
So the dog tried to trip you up once?

That is a really shitty assertion. I shall not dignify with an
admissionI mean reply. -

just popped down to New World by Courtenay Place for the first time since lockdown - the notices on many of the shops made for striking reading - didn't think it would affect me as much as it did. definitely needed the bourbon I was given upon my return though. Countdown in Newtown is still full of ferals though.
Is that Schaeffer St? That's a busy one
nah the corner of John St and Adelaide road one
Up until mid-Feb, I lived 100m from Countdown Newtown. You're very right about the general feral state of the joint.

I don't live in Welly now. I don't recall that one. But anywhere but the Schaeffer St one has got to be better
ah right Chaffers st - yeah that's the New World I went to - queue was about 15 people at 6pm but by the time I left it was at 0 - whereas countdown as above was packed as fuck and full of covidiots
I hear it's improved since about mid-feb?

WFH these last few weeks has got me having some toast in the morning with my second coffee. For decades I skipped breakfast as a matter of routine. So far I've managed to restrict myself to just two slices with butter and marmalade (Fortnum & Mason if that matters) a day.
-
@antipodean Wife and I visited an orchard and picked our own apples for $2 a kilo. We had so many she made apple butter. Holy shit that tastes good on toast. I'm finding I can put it on just about anything

Did a PYO chillies run before lockdown and have now made harissa, dried chipotles, smoked paprika and have a frozen supply of “fresh” for curries etc.
I have a massive Rocoto and two smaller Habanero's along with some Hungarian yellows, birds eye and standard red long chillies all fruiting well and some are on second pick.
If anyone wants some sent to them, PM me and I will send you a selection.

Having a virtual cocktail party at 6 (local) tonight, if you want to join us. Scrabbling around the booze shelf (we are not big spirit drinkers) we're going to have Foghorns (Gin, fresh lime and ginger ale), espresso martinis, and some other mixes (georgia gin maybe)
-
I only have 2 small plants, used them to make a tomato and chilli chutney a few weeks back, very nice, but next time if I have more chillies I'll up the chilli/tomato ratio
-
god i love chilli!

So digressing a moment from chillis - today was my first day actually working from home as I didn't go into the office as I'm feeling mildly unwell. (Not CV symptoms)
I must say its very civilised. Looking out into the garden, back door open, stop and make coffee (expensive Italian expresso machine finally paying its way). Take a break to put a wash on and again an hour later to hang it on line. Not having to bother sanitising every time I move.
I could definitely get used to this...

Fuck it so I started early
