So not a lot said about this. Thoughts anyone?
To paraphrase Chris Witty: "Compared to what we know about other viruses, we really don't have a fucking clue about this one yet" ?

I read somewhere that although recovered there was viral debris in some, and that seemed to be enough to test positive. Point being there increasingly looks to be a period (six months plus?) of immunity.

Good call. There's so much uncertainty about what makes a difference, what doesn't, how transmittable and when...

@Siam The counter argument would be Trump fan-bois buy in to his paranoia and attempts to blame anyone but himself - even his own appointees - rather than accept that the President of The US both through his actions and inactions has exacerbated what was already a crisis into a catastrophe.
It is shameful that the richest and most resourced country on earth has been shown up to be so unprepared, so unable to adapt, so riven by distrust and personality politics. Trump isn't solely to blame for all of that but he has to take his share of the responsibility.
Turns out appointing a clown to lead you in a time of crisis isn't all that funny.
The fact is that if Trump was NZ PM it is likely things would have been OK and had Cindy been POTUS there'd have been tens of thousands of deaths.
The cult of personality is fairly pointless.
Lottery numbers for Saturday please

The other key thing is that as far as we know this whole shitbang started from one person.
Not knowing who is out there carrying it because the odd one or two pop up shows a need for eradication.
Even here in NZ someone still appeared well after we thought the transmission had stopped and was oblivious to their infection. All it takes is for that person to go to a well attended crowded function and we could start the process all over again.

Shit.....disturbing if true

@Frank really big If considering this has already been looked at countless times and every investigation has come back with nothing untoward to report. Plus the Washington Times first reported this in January and claimed to have the smoking gun but never backed up the claim. Plus they peddle a long line of discredited theories - climate change is bogus, second hand smoke - bogus Obama was a muslim jihadist. Not sure on their position on the moon landings....

@dogmeat
Of course these are preliminary findings and not peer reviewed, but are these Australian researchers in on the conspiracy to discredit China?Have China let inspection agencies into the Wuhan lab for a proper investigation?
Regardless of what went on, this crisis will probably change the way the world - and the West in particular - looks at China.
I can't see the view that China is a benevolent source of cheap goods and that the money to be made selling to it's huge and growing market overrides any negatives continuing to prevail.
Sure, the likes of Merkel may want to compromise to keep selling China BMW's and others will see any change in relations with China as being a no-no as it's agreeing with Trump, but I don't think things will be carrying as as they were.

That park is near me. West Byfleet is a decent enough sort of area, but it has had some anti social behaviour issues over the last few months.
Hitting a cop though is far beyond this though, and I see arrests made is great. They'll be in jail for this.

Update from the Mother Land.
I've been keeping my nose out of it or a while - the bullshit, political plays and country divide was getting on my tits. Combine that with the tenant in our rental flat disappearing, working 14 hour days and the kids losing their shit over home schooling, it's not been a great time.
Anyway, I can proudly report that Piers Morgan is officially our new Prime Minister. It seems that what Piers wants, Piers gets. Starts a campaign about this, this happens. Be annoyed about that, that happens. Two quite clear examples. Captain Tom has been knighted, and the NHS surcharge (paid by everybody who immigrates here) has been scrapped for NHS workers. As if his ego wasn't big enough already.
Anyway, overall the country seems on the improve. Numbers are dropping, things are opening up (slowly) and people are starting to look forwards. All in all, not bad.
Still seems to be a lot of love for Cindy, with many people pointing out the NZ loss life etc as the benchmark we should be disgraced / ashamed / humiliated / shameful about. Obviously, very easy comparison if the UK was in the middle of nowhere with 5mm people, and no airports. But lets forget about that. The praise should, in my view, be as much for the NZ population as Cindy. They listened, they did what was said, they didn't act confused.
The UK comm's were nowhere near as bad as being portrayed. Yes Boris fucked up a couple of times (I shook their hands), but when shit got real, he got real. Certain outlets will have you believe throughout this crisis, every single park across the country was rammed full of people not social distancing, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, there were issues, and yes London probably bore the brunt of it. But as of now, London hasn't reported a hospital death in a while, nor a new case. Tha argument of why is still still shut down is growing by the minute.
Karol Sikora has without doubt, been the voice of reason. He's been slammed by many for being optimistic, but he reports on facts only. Not conjecture, not opinions. Facts. He offers opinions based on those facts, yes, and a lot of them are positive. But so what? It's a sea of negativity out there. Apparently one of his interviews was blocked on youtube as it was too optimistic. What message does that send? Who blocked it?
Track and trace doesn't stand chance of working here. No way. The people don't trust the government.
And when you read the above, why would they?
So overall .. still here, still kicking. Tough few years ahead probably, but shit happens. Didn't want the 911 anyway.
