@Nepia I know it is a TSF tradition to not read articles linked in, but it mentions Aus Netflix is ranked worse than ours....
We have the second-lowest number of Emmy Award-winning TV shows (although it's cheering to know that the only country worse off in this regard is Australia) and we're 11th from the bottom when it comes to Academy Award-winning movies.

Have given up on Snowpiercer. A bunch of characters I don’t give a fuck about, Jennifer Connolly looks like a walking skeleton and the complete implausibility irked me too much. Utter crap.
Netflix has produced a few duds recently (e.g., The Last Days of American Crime, Space Force).
I started on Dark last night as it has been on my watch list for a while. Intriguing.
I haven't seen Space Force yet but have heard mixed reports about it. It's by one of the Parks and Recs guys so it could very likely turn into a cracking show in the space of a season.
IMO it would require another season.

Hahaha, yep, I followed tradition. I pretty much only watch Netflix shows on Netflix so am not fussed about the other shows they have. With them, Stan, Apple Tv, Amazon, Disney Plus I can't keep up with my tv watching as it is.

The rights to different movies and TV series is spread across the different platforms in NZ. As mentioned in the article, The Godfather trilogy are on Amazon.
Let's see what happens when Neon and Lightbox merge as the latter had a few movies I would have watched but I refuse to pay to rent them.
-
@taniwharugby The Godfather trilogy is on Amazon Prime. Which I tend to watch more than Netflix anyways
-
I’ve just started watching series called Jack Taylor, main character played by Jorah the Andal. Crime series set in the West of Ireland. Some dark themes and some nice looking scenery and some nice looking “scenery” but no titties as yet. That aside I can’t quite make up my mind about it, watchable but falls short in some way. Therefore 3 good looking lady rookies out of 5 grizzled drunk vets.
-
@Catogrande think I've watched all of it. Really liked it.
In what felt like a similar vein to me, you might also like Jack Irish. Maybe it was just the name that made it seem similar though...

Really stupid article as it still harps on about the 'measure' of Netflix implying that NZ customers are hard done by when they answer the question themselves. Companies sold package rights to movies here some time ago when new VOD services were starting up. Until those rights lapse, Netflix can't add them in.

I finished S1 and S2 of Dark. Wow!
I have found the different timelines easier to understand than Westworld but there are still scenes that mess with your mind and your perception of time travel. There are also some really messed up family trees in this series, none more so than Elisabeth. Without spoiling anything I'm not sure how the final scene in S2 will play out, and whether it strengthens or weakens the story for S3.
I have watched a few videos online that explain the multiple timelines and relationships between the different characters. This one from IMDb is useful.

I should spend some time watching these as I can't keep up on my own. I just watched the trailer for S3, and it's like I never saw S1/2, I have no idea what is going on any more!

Done and dusted with White Lines
I had to watch it to find out what happened, now I know I wish I hadn’t bothered. Some pretty lazy writing and massive character inconsistencies relegate it to a pretty average TV series overall after a really good start.
Nice locations and T & A though
This show started good, then started getting shit, then didn’t stop getting shit.

That’s probably the best review I’ve ever seen for it

I see Apple has just shipped a teaser for Asimov’s Foundation TV series. It seems promising. The main guy from Chernobyl looks to be playing the Hari Sheldon part.
That may just make me pull the trigger for Apples streaming. Going to have to start juggling these things, have too many.
Prime for The Expanse, Netflix and Disney+
Sky is more than all of them combined. If I could stream a rugby channel from NZRU I would be set.

Isn't there any Apple product you need to buy? Update? So you can get the years free subscription?
I have Netflix, Stan, Disney, Apple TV plus and Kayo for the rugby. I probably watch Stan the most at the moment, but it often changes between Netflix and Stan for most watched.
I watch Prime shows at a mates place.

Good point, I'm due an iPhone in September. Problem solved, thanks!

Sweet, that must mean I am due one this November! Last time you had yours a couple of months before I got mine (I think)
So what are we getting this time?

I think a refresh on the outside for the first time in a while. The flat edges like the old iPhone 4 and the current iPad pro. Should be nice.
Biggest changes to how iOS works on the homescreen for a while too. Auto grouping of icons, can hide pages of icons, widgets inline by the icons. Will put on the public beta next month to take a looksie.

Without trying to derail this thread too much, it all sounds good but I like smooth edges.
