A decent news organisation would have asked for a copy of this fabled coalition agreement so we could verify what Shaw is saying. Useless.

It's right here (along with the Labour-Greens confidence and supply agreement).
There is, of course, allegedly a longer coalition document between Labour & NZ First that was anywhere between 32 and 38 pages, depending on the "font size".

@Smudge Yeah, it's the "real" one I meant, not the public one! Too secret for us to know about and the press don't even seem to be interested anymore.
Bit harsh to blame the media for not getting hold of it (other than through a leak) . The Ombudsman ruled it didn't have to be released after OIA requests and complaints from the Opposition and media and I suspect it now exists as a couple of copies tucked away in the respective safes of each party.

Maybe harsh, I just don't know why they aren't using every opportunity like this to wheedle it out of the coalition partners. Aren't they even curious? I'm dying to know what black-hearted Winston put in there. I'm also interested to know how it would be enforceable (except politically).

Latest Colmar Brunton poll. Big recovery for National, NZ First drops some more, but Labour can still govern alone.

One thing I'm pretty certain of, is that there wont be a simple majority. Key couldn't do it, despite similar levels of support. Election campaigns give oxygen to minor parties, and often level things up.
Polls super volatile too, with a 9 point swing in a few weeks. Remarkable considering the campaign arguably hasn't really kicked off yet

Agree, there's 15.5% undecided, that gives a lot of hope.

The way this year has gone, 3 months is enough time for another of the signs of the apocalypse to arrive.

@mariner4life problem with any type of bus is that the roads into the CBD are at capacity now and the buses grid lock - irrespective of the drive train
@taniwharugby Apparently Winnie was able to wheedle out of the Agreement because of the introduction of the PPP element.
Fucking Twyford. This project was pretty much "shovel ready" in 2017. Then he took it off AT and gave it to NZTA. Then he had dinner with the Canadians and was seduced by the latest bright shiny thing and it all became a cluster fuck. He really is a moron. He made it all about travel times to the airport whereas it was and still should be about a) freeing upo Dominion Road from the buses and b) offering rapid transit to Mt Roskill and Mangere.
Real losers are the west as this has killed the prospect of Light Rail to Kumeu which IMO should be an even higer priority (and should have been built when they widened the motorway)
-
@dogmeat yep. Twyford and Clarke have done untold damage imo. I do wonder how close Ardern is to cutting them - surely it'd be kinder to remove then from opportunities to show out of their depth they are... and certainly kinder for us!!

@Paekakboyz I thought Twyford was good as opposition spokesperson on Transport. Met with him a couple of times and he certainly came across more credibly than Fatman or Soiman. I had high hopes.
However it quickly became apparent that he is one of those big sky thinkers - good in a brainstorming session but don't ever ask him to deliver anything as he has a) zero attention to detail and so b) gets drawn away into anotherr hobby horse - Shiny, shiny, want it, must have it precious.
Clarke though is an unmitigated fluffybunny

I think this description fits for all of Jacinda's mob. Big ideas, zero operational ability, as illustrated by the quarantine snafu and the aforementioned Kiwibuild scheme. Also, where the fuck are my 1000000 trees?

Kumeu is a shitshow. We were looking at houses out that way, it's a nice area but the bridge out is at gridlock most of the time. No plans to increase capacity out there for roads either, and more developments are going up. What could go wrong?
