Would be nice to see a 2024 race between two sane, measured candidates who had real policies and who wouldn't polarise the nation.
Thanks. I needed a laugh.
You'd probably stand a better chance of a unicorn and the Loch Ness monster running for president in 2024...

I'd vote for Locky

Trump wins the nomination easily if he wants it.
Can't see him being re-elected though.Who are options?
Ron De Santis?
Ted Kruz?
Dan Crenshaw?
Nikki Haley? That's about the sum total of Republicans I can name ...
Isn't Crenshaw born outside the US and ineligible?
But, yeah, there doesn't seem to be much of a talent pool.

Polls of Republicans have Trump miles in front and then DeSantis in second by miles.
DeSantis is seen as the most Trump-like in his policies (and actually meaning it) without Trump's fucked personality. -

.....wouldn't the government already have all those things she said they'd come asking for....i mean...doesn't the government give out the social security numbers to start with

Reality doesn't come into it.
Supposedly intelligent people are happy to ignore facts and logic to preserve or harden identity (same on both ends of the political spectrum)Apparently these are volunteers doing a door knock to drop off fact sheets and see if asking people face to face about their vax status may offer a chance to get the numbers up. The big worry in the US is that they will provide breeding grounds in low take up states for variants. That should also concern everyone world wide. Anyway, suggesting that these volunteers should be met with firearms is mind boggling. "I'm going to threaten to shoot you because I disagree!"
What she goes on to say is even more crazy. Telling everyone that Fauci funded the creation of COVID-19 so he could create a worldwide experiment.

Why are some Americans so sensitive about govt mandates to wear a mask?
I can't think of a more obvious country when it comes to the IQ distribution curve.

I've heard it claimed masks don't hinder spreading of the virus. Is this true?
They are like strophe teenagers claiming it's an impingement on their freedom.Because every single fucking thing becomes a left vs right debate over there. Athlete pulls out of Olympics? Left vs Right. Wear a mask so you don't spread the virus to others? Left vs Right.
Well at least that's what it seems. Given more than half the population don't even bother to vote I'd say most people don't have a strong opinion on it.

When you look at the choices they've been given in the last ten years or so, perhaps the average US voter is smarter than we think.

What happens when presidential & vice-presidential candidates think making themselves feel and look virtuous is more important than doing the important stuff like actually thinking policies thru.
Telling the world separating families is evil and will be stopped and you will also provide free medical care. What could possibly go wrong?
Lone children at US border hit record high. A record 19,000 unaccompanied children were picked up trying to cross the border last month. Unaccompanied children caught trying to cross the Mexican border into the US are at record numbers and there is no sign of the usual summer slowdown. The American authorities picked up more than 19,000 in July, exceeding the previous monthly high of 18,877 in March, according to preliminary government figures. The June total was 15,253. The number of migrants who came in family groups is also likely to reach about 80,000 last month, up from 55,805 in June and its second highest total on record. Republicans have blamed the Biden administration for the new wave. It has reversed hardline measures put in place by President Trump, such as his “remain in Mexico” policy that required all asylum seekers to stay on the other side of the border while their case was assessed. President Biden also suspended construction of a more secure border wall commissioned by his predecessor. The US border authorities apprehended migrants about 210,000 times at the border last month, up from 188,829 in June and the highest in more than 20 years, David Shahoulian of the Department of Homeland Security, said. Preliminary numbers show that in the first 29 days of July there was a daily average of 6,779 people, including 616 unaccompanied children and 2,583 who came in families. The figures include some adults who are expelled at once and try to cross repeatedly. The rising numbers have strained holding facilities, with 17,778 people in custody on Sunday, despite a “Covid-19 adjusted capacity” of 4,706. The Rio Grande Valley sector in south Texas was holding 10,002 of them. A court challenge to end mass expulsions resumed this week. “We are deeply disappointed that the Biden administration has abandoned its promise of fair and humane treatment for families seeking safety, leaving us no choice but to resume litigation,” said Neela Chakravartula, managing attorney for the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies.

Twitter
Hardly anyone on Twitter really. They have low active users and a shit tonne of bots.
It’s only important as a platform because tweets get trawled by desperate journalists for stories/click bait.
Facebook on the other hand is a monster.
