'Looking forward to playing him': Highlanders relishing Josh Ioane reunion

'Looking forward to playing him': Highlanders relishing Josh Ioane reunion

As fate would have it, Josh Ioane is primed to make his Chiefs debut against his former team, the Highlanders, at his old home this weekend.

I wonder if Dermody intended this comment about J Ioane to sound as bitchy as it did?

"He looks like he’s changed. He’s gone up there and he looks really fit."

The 23 for the Chiefs is pretty unpredictable.
How many ABs will come straight in to start and how many from the bench?
9/10? If Weber starts with Ioane dowe see the Ratima Gatland combo on the bench or do the mix things up?

Midfield and second row very dependant on who jumps in.

McMillan is certainly going to have to juggle a few positions, lock especially. If both BBBR and Vaa'i are restricted to 40 mins I suppose one could start and be replaced by the other at HT. But who is other the lock who would likely play 80 mins? Lord is the AB so would be favoured but might be on time-restrictions too. So it could be Ah Kuoi or McWhannell. I've got no idea which way he'll go.

MP is next week so he could rotate a few players.

I didn't realise that there were time restrictions.
I suppose they have done that in previous years but isn't it x amount over y weeks or something?

There was an article that mentioned the AB's are on a 40/60/80 min return to play schedule

I bet there's plenty of flexibility around that.

Last year there was guidelines published about the number of mins over x weeks but the Blues clearly didn't follow those with Tuipulotu (it was more of a negotiation with the AB powers on a case by case basis)

As @Duluth says, there is the 40-60-80 min return-to-play protocol, which is a NZRPA thing. The only ABs involved in the game of 3 halves were Cane, Ta’avao, Lord and Tupaea.

Does that count as their 40 then?

If so, that tips the hand being played.

@crucial I believe so. Robertson said as much for his ABs that played the Canes last week.

I was just wondering that. He certainly threw a few out for a 40 minute runaround without much effort .

So who is going to run out for the Chiefs on Saturday?

Blues fans would have had a full discussion of 23s by now, along with some hot tips from one or two posters.

    Get on it.

My care factor is close to zero in summer.

I have a vague interest in who is in the squad but if I end up watching the game this weekend I will surprise myself. Is it Saturday night?
