    @victor-meldrew that looks fucking amazing.

    It is a genuinely fucking great piece of kit. We took down a 20m Ash tree last November and this cut off all the branches from the trunk, ready for shredding, in about 15 minutes. You have to oil it ever 10 or so minutes of use with a little oilcan but that's the only minor downside.

    As a long term devotee of the GOM thread, thought it a good idea to have place to post when things are going well. In true Fern and Grumpy Old Men tradition, it will probably die in a day or two....

    I'll kick off.

    I normally have a shit-load of tree debris to cut down to logs and shred the stuff after the annual visit from my friendly, local tree-surgeon. It's generally a bit of a pain - particularly the thinner branches - until I bought one of these.

    It;s a cross between a chainsaw and a lopping tool, is the absolute dogs bollocks and possibly the best garden tool I've bought. It's bloody awesome at cutting away the smaller branches from the trunk and saves me hours of effort.

    I'm now feeling smug and happy at spending my money wisely.

    Any power tool with a dragon on it must be awesome!

    @victor-meldrew bloody good effort.

    My mate worked as an arborist, and swore by mini chainsaws. Kinda like that, but without the size limit and some protective shielding ... but light and super useful. Haven't had the need (yet) but amazing that battery power has taken over a lot of the personal tool market.

    good thread, by the way

    Some of the lads run those mini chain saws for the trail work we do.

    This other tool looks awesome though!

    My tree surgeon/Arborist is moving to battery-powered tools as his petrol stuff wears out. He's fitted a couple of 120w solar panels on the roof of his van and that gives him enough power to recharge the power packs while he's working.

    I've a little 40v 60cm chainsaw which is perfect for our garden.

    Need one of those @Victor-Meldrew .

    I have collected a whole heap of Ryobi One tools (blowers, hedge trimmer (normal and telescopic), we're trimmer(s), drill, stick vac), my favourite being the chainsaw(s).

    I unfortunately I burned out the little 10" chainsaw, but replaced it with a 12" brushless jobbie which is even better, more powerful, faster chain speed.

    Ended up with some excess items because it was cheaper to buy a set with a blower, weed trimmer and battery than just buy a battery.

    I actually need one, I've been overkilling with my petrol chainsaw, or killing myself with a hand bow saw. This might've pushed me over the edge to get a mini electric one!

    @nzzp and you can mount those little badboys on extenders - so they can reach a long bloody way and have enough grunt to get through decent sized branches.

    Having the right set of tools makes a world of difference!

    Even more needed then. The smaller the body parts the easier they are to get out of the building without others noticing.

    I've gone for Greenworks 40v collection which is mid-range with the likes of DeWalt and Makita being top of the pile. . Greenworks also do an 80v range.

    Use the chainsaw a fair bit but the strimmer and brush cutter get a lot of use and haven't once let me down in the last 4-5 years.

    We just bought our first house in Auckland, and got it well under CV as it needs some light renovations which we are more than happy to do. I'm not as old and grumpy as most of you but I am feeling extremely contented to finally put renting behind us. Scraping together enough $$ and then finding something big enough for our family (3 boys) in a reasonable suburb seemed like an impossible task for a long time there.
