Ricky Gervais At Globes

@Catogrande Just a really enjoyable semi-rant without that many belly laughs.
-
Spot on!

The stuff at the end about the harshness his family was the funniest I reckon.
He should do more of that. The trans stuff was kind of boring because it's all been done before.
I find his atheist stuff kind of dull because he comes across as awfully evangelical about it. -

Just finished. Very weak, and I'm a big fan. Disappointed!

It's genuinely becoming the modern equivalent of 'what's the deal with airline food?'.
It's edgy and everything but it all is starting to feel a bit tired and unoriginal.

I liked it, got some laughs from me...some stuff was meh, but thats the same with all comedians!

Me too, took a while to warm up but I got a few laughs which was good.

Watched it entirely last night. I thought it was absolutely brilliant and easily my favourite of his stand up specials.
Didn't find the first 45 minutes stand up comedy as such, more an interesting monologue on observations of the current world we live in - both physically and online. I found it a great listen with some hilarious moments interspersed.
Last 15 minutes was more traditional stand up which I really enjoyed too.
Yeah, his best work for me since The Office.

@MajorRage A guy with an opinion on Stuff reckons otherwise…
The author has 187 Twitter followers so obviously has the feel for the zeitgeist in a way that RG with his nearly 15million clearly doesn’t.

Stuff disagreeing with me is a sure fire way of knowing I'm correct.
Reality is that there isn't huge laughs in it. But in my view, it's a brilliant observation.
I agree that Trans has been done to death. In my view though, I think that is Gervais point. He slams the activists, not so much the people.

That has to be a pisstake. Even after Gervais sets up the joke by explaining the use of irony as comedic effect.
"he knows those women have all been funnier in their careers than he has been in the last 20 years. He is just gambling that his audience don't know that."
You can't say that with a straight face and list Hannah Gadsby.
