State of Play: Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams (who is bloody hot despite her paleness). An american update of the Brit tv series of the same name.<br />
Not a great movie by any standards but very watchable as entertainment. You can see the twists coming a mile away but then in what movie can't you these days?<br />
<br />
6.5/10
<br />
<br />
Angels & Demons. If you haven't read the book, it's tough to see it coming. I didn't even get close.

War of War starring Cuba Gooding Jnr - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1133995/<br />
<br />
2/10 - Horrible horrible movie. Whats happened to Cuba Gooding Jnr? His career took a nosedive after he won an Oscar for Jerry McGuire. I won't even go into explaining the plot because there wasn't one. Just don't bother renting this..don't even waste your bandwidth stealing it off the net.

Funny - on reading the book i saw it a mile off. Standard Dan Brown, people in jeopardy from all sides, don't know who to trust and along comes someone good. Someone powerful and intelligent. Someone helpful. Someone who double crosses you and is the villain all along. I have to admit I didn't see it in the first book of his I read but they all pretty much followed the same formula and became easier to guess.

I'm not the first one to comment on "The Reader" but here's my 2 cents. It's a great film about coming to terms with past guilt and the complexities of why people do immoral things. It's also a good peek into the soul of post-war Germany. The best part about the story was that it didn't preach and it let you decide whether Winslet's character deserved any sympathy. Great acting all round too (apart from Feinnes who was a little wooden). It's probably not to everyone's tastes and was panned by quite a few, mainly American critics who seemed to think that it was giving some kind of justification for the holocaust - kind of ironic, because Americans seem to have conveniently forgotten that they reelected the guy who sent tens of thousands to their death in an immoral war and have washed their hands of it by voting in "The Messiah".

Saw Terminator Salvation today and thought it was pretty good. Much better than I'd hoped for and definitely better than the 3rd one (although the Terminatrix was pretty hot). Bale was fine as Connor and the Australian guy who played Marcus Wright was all good, even if he forgot his accent sometimes. 7.5/10.

Yeah I saw it today as well. Some truly awesome action sequences although being a terminator movie it obviously has a few time travelling flaws involved. Farkin exciting though and as mentioned heaps better than number 3 which was basically rubbish.

Just watched Righteous Kill with Deniro and Pacino. It wasn't too bad and filled in a nice Thursday night

Body of Lies - Crowe, DiCaprio.<br />
<br />
Good movie actually, lots of action, plot with a bit of depth and the acting by both Crowe and DiCaprio is top notch. Never going to be a mega success, but it worked for me. 7.5/10<br />
<br />
P.S - DiCaprio certainly has moved on from his soft cock days. Departed, Blood Diamond, Body of Lies - hard man in all.

With a nice little twist, you suspected was coming but were never 100% sure...<br />
<br />
Watched My best friends Girlfriend; Dane Cook, Kate Hudson, Jason Biggs<br />
<br />
I liked it, but then I also liked Good Luck Chuck, good crude humour; therefore, if you disliked Good Luck Chuck, you will not like this.<br />
<br />
Storylines are bizaarely similar in fact; this one is he is a pr!ck, and people hire him to go out with thier ex-girlfriend and be an arse so they want to go back with the ex.

I really like that movie too, ended up picking it up for SFA and it's on the shelf. DiCaprio is one of my preferred actors these days, he was excellent in BOL. Crowe played an exploitative conniving control freak blundering piston wristed gibbon very well too.

So Crowe was type-cast. Saw Easy Virtue. Mannaered movie based on Noel Coward play about the generational change from 1920-30's and the decline of the English landed gentry. Very droll if you like that sort of thing.

Thought it was pretty terrible myself. Some nice explosions and machines but the plot was all but obvious within the first 10 minutes and from there on in it was just effects and cringe dialogue. That fulla who plays Marcus was decent enough though.<br />
<br />
I'd give it 3/10 - they could've done shit loads more with this film.<br />
<br />
The only real success in T4 was that they managed to make the Terminators a bit scarier than before. More animal aggression in their movements coupled with their mechanical nature - thought that was kinda cool.

Wow, it's interesting how people find different films to be different - like me and the Watchmen (can't stand it but lots of people on here seemed to love it). I also enjoyed Wolverine (most superheroes films tend to bore me) when most people didn't enjoy it. Maybe I've lowered my expectations. I'm really looking forward to Public Enemies, the new Depp and Bale film and directed by Michael Mann, it looks the shit.<br />
<br />
I think Terminator Salvation fit better with the tv series than previous movies and I really enjoyed the tv series. I think it's the first in a new trilogy so I'm looking forward to the next one.

I was pleasntly surprised by Terminator: Salvation. Thought it was better than the poor advance reviews had led to expect. However it was by no means a great movie, even by the standards of Summer blockbusters and it did appear to be cobbled together from the parts that worked in other movies.<br />
<br />
Loved the washed out look of the movie and thought that for the most part the CGI blended in well with the real actors as well as any movie I have seen. This was especially noticable for me when Sam Worthington's character jumped onto the Hunter Killer. So many movies have had real actors on top of moving CGI objects that look really, really bad.<br />
<br />
I am always amazed that a film of this size can go into production without a finished script. <br />
<br />
6.5/10.<br />
<br />
Perhaps slightly better than T3 but not as good as T1 or T2. Would watch a fifth installment but that's probably all the legs the franchise has left.

Awake; Hayden Christenson, Jessica Alba<br />
<br />
Nice crime thriller, maintains the tension throughout. <br />
<br />
Christensen undergoes heart transplant surgery, and while under the anaesthetic, he is still 'awake' but paralysed and unable to move or speak...

Watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night, some very funny bits in that, actually there are 'bits' hanging out all over the place. By the same guys who did Knocked Up, Superbad etc.<br />
<br />
Decent non-cringe date dvd.

Yeah but [spoiler:vyt1rwat]don't you think he would have known he was a machine ? he was super strong and survived a huge fall with barely a scratch. Now I think about it I don't think the Terminators ( how cool was that really big one with moterbikes coming out of its legs ? ) ever directly targeted him, more the humans he was with....nice little twist though, unlike the people I went with I hadn't seen the trailers so it was a bit of a surprise[/spoiler:vyt1rwat]

Watched "The Hunting Party" on the weekend. 3 journalists trying to find a Serbian war criminal 5 years after the end of the civil war, with Richard Gere, Terrance Stamp, and a cameo by a very un-made up Diane Kruger (still hot though).<br />
<br />
Apparently loosely based on a true story, its pretty damn entertaining actually, and asks a lot of questions about how the authorities are never able to find these people, are they actually trying? Doesn't take itself too seriously though, i was thoroughly entertained.<br />

A rating in the 7s.

Watched 'The Knowing" lastnight, not bad.<br />
Pretty silly plot, but the scenes with the Plane and subway were very impressive. After that though i had the feeling i was watching an advertisement for one of those religious cults that believe they will be taken away by Aliens.<br />
<br />
Only thing missing was the movies cast wearing sneakers.

Terrence Howard. yeah agreed, it was good value.<br />
<br />
Terminator: Forgettable, disappointing, too much like a Bay movie. CGI was fantastic (chopper scene at the start is great), but plot was disjointed and the script was mostly average and sometimes downright cringe worthy ("I'll be back"). Worthington overshadowed Bale by a large margin.
