Dr Strange....JESUS...we are a long way from a billionaire in a metal suit just trying to stop another bloke in a bigger metal suit taking over his company
Was fun but thought it was super dark...and not DC moody "dark"...actual jump scare and almost graphic violence
The director was Sam Raimi. Although I didn't find it too horror like, as I'm not a horror fan. Only the second best multiverse movie out at the moment though.
Are you meaning the Michelle Yeoh one? Cant think of the name.. both are on my watch list
Yep, Everything, Everywhere all at once (I think).
I really want to watch that... but I'm stuck travelling around, ah... "provincial" New Zealand... where the only screen-times are an hour travel away, and at night... and fuck riding a motorcycle home in the cold dark probably-wet.
And it looks like it's about to drop out of screenings at most cinemas in a couple of days. -

Asians live all over Auckland dumb distributors.

This actually looks good, more like the winter soldier
We watched lover and thunder last night, my current feeling is they’re carving Thor off from the main Mcu, let him go on mar capped comic adventures out in space
-
@Kiwiwomble i watched love and thunder last night, enjoyed parts, others less so.
I don't mind the humour, was good it was under 2 hours too.
I'd give it 3 God killing swords out of 5 paydays for g'n'r

I do kind of get why some were grumpy. Maybe it was in the editing but it did seem uneven in the balance of humour vs story. Wasn't a big fan of the bit with theGuardians either. Fun watch though and I loved Russel Crowe's 'Con the Fruiterer' take on Zeus.

@Crucial definitely get the critiques, marvel does seem very fast and loose at the moment…I mean Thor knows dr strange and captain marvel and didn’t think to ask them for help…that’s just in the story before you get into the poorly timed jokes and the cheap looking costumes
BUT…is was obviously a comedy/action and people going in expecting endgame needed to manage their expectations

I don't follow Marvel that closely but watch stuff for entertainment. I did read though, that the movies and TV shows are all over the shop time wise at the moment. That Hawkeye Tv show for example was well ahead of some stuff.
One of the biggest problems with superhero 'universes' is that you have all these problems with trying to explain why so and so wasn't around hence the multi-verses and timelines.##spoiler
I have a feeling that Kingpin's unexpected strength in Hawkeye will be explained in She-Hulk. There is a She-Hulk/Daredevil/Kingpin/Hawkeye thread there somewhere.
##endspoiler -
@Crucial we might have seen the same article as i saw something about the timeline stuff, i hadn't actually noticed much before but it does feel like the first few phases were super tight but everyone just seems to be doing whatever they want now

@Kiwiwomble he's a bloody genius when it comes to this stuff. I'd put money on this happening and even more on it being fucking awesome.

Even got to plug his alcohol brand

@canefan hard! dude does not miss a trick aye. He actually makes entertaining ads which is almost unheard of these days.
He's just a very smart, or very lucky, dude with his Aviation Gin.
He brought into the brand in 2018. He then used his own company, Maximum Effort Marketing, to market the Aviation Gin brand.
In 2020 the brand was brought by Diageo for USD$660M.
Diageo paid USD$335 million upfront with an additional USD$275 million possible payday depending on Aviation's performance over the next 10 years.
RR kept a stake so not only does he still profit from ongoing sales but there's a significant future bonus based on sales.
I believe that part of the deal with Diageo is the ongoing use of Maximum Effort Marketing to promote the brand.
Now that's an astute business man and my biggest man crush, sorry Dan Carter.

I've a bottle in the alcohol cupboard and yes, it's a good Gin.
Not a great example but definitely a very good gin which I enjoy regularly. TBH, brought it being mindful of the hype and therefore kept expectations low and was pleasantly surprised.
Definitely a "modern" gin with other botanicals taking the stage over the traditional juniper.
